Well, mainly it is the build-up of line pressure. If it's an abnormally long stall - check the fluid level, it may be low. Otherwise, there's nothing to worry about.
Heavy is right on the money.....it might also be caused by a sticky valve(is this the right term?). Next time you service your tranny you might want to add a can of quality tranny conditioner and see if that helps.
