What would cause a 700r4 to pause when shifted from park to reverse or reverse to drive? It pauses for a second and then engages.

Well, mainly it is the build-up of line pressure. If it's an abnormally long stall - check the fluid level, it may be low. Otherwise, there's nothing to worry about.

Heavy is right on the money.....it might also be caused by a sticky valve(is this the right term?). Next time you service your tranny you might want to add a can of quality tranny conditioner and see if that helps.

Valve is correct(Throttle Control Valve)or TCV. IMO you guys hit it on head the with the fluid level and TCV. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Mine does the same thing i thought that was nomral. Fluid is brand new....i have right amount in it also. my other 700r4 tranny did the same thing.
