70\'s body side molding....???

Okay....any body shop guru's out there. We removed some of the original trim from the chalet to reglue it...scraped everything really good with the chemicals are body shop uses to ensure and ultra clean area to stick to...installedtwo sided 3M tape and put it back together....only to find it poped back off in the am...any ideas?

Hey DW...whatsup???

I've had that happen...Did the tape stick to the molding??
Or did the tape..stick to the vehicle??

I've been using the 3M...double sided urathane tape.
Is that the product you used??

Stuck to the square plastic chip....not the body.
3M...comes in two sizes...not sure if urathane or not. He ordered some real thin stuff to try also...plus gm said you can get the chips that go in the molding for 45 cents a piece...got to buy bag of 20 a a time though....don't know if thy come with tape or not...'

Did you clean it with alcohol???

I used a combination of 3M double sided urathane tape and Super Fast window Urathane adhesive..to get my 2" molding to stick to my 91'...

I ran 2 strips of tape...and put spots of uranthane adhesive..
between the tape..

Before that...I lost a molding too!!!

smae problem, I ended up using the alchole and she worked like a charm.. then I slapped my self and threw the bran new molding in the trash, clashed with the redpaint.

I do say the lmc molding was a decent quality though /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
