Who has put the hood hinges in a 70's cab for an 80's hood? I'm looking for some info on doing it, like how difficult it is- does it take a lot of measureing or is it pretty easy to tell where they are suppose to go?
If that doesn't work out would a 70's hood work with 80's fenders?
Thanks for any help.

i think you'll find that it's more than just hinges.i've got an '84 and had a '76 and was going to swap hood.the '76 had the vented cowl in the hood whereas the '84 has the cowl on the firewall under the windshield encasing the wiper arm assembly.by looking at i think the '76 hood was a little sorter.i actually measured it at the time(5mos. ago)but don't remember exact measurments.if you can do a sice by side compare you'll see what i'm talking about.good luck!

I know it's done all the time as I have seen a lot of them done. I have even owned one before (was bought that way) I am also curious on all the particulars on doing it.

yes its been done by many ppl, takes some mods, but not impossible of course, you just need a donor 81-up for all the seals and cowl panel and hardware and such

the hinges bolt to cowl 81 up yes but the spring deals bolt to fenders
oh and you need 81-up wiper arm shafts, etc

and some other 81-up stuff

good luck
