71 4 speed production numbers

I'm not sure how common they were in real numbers, but I live in Utah and every 1st gen blazer I've seen was a 4 speed so I would say they aren't uncommon at least.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't get much sleep last night. Tossed and turned until 1 AM. The alarm went off at 5 am. I've got to decide in the next hour or so to buy a 4 speed 71. Last registered in 98. The least rusty one I have seen in a while.

I don't know why you wouldn't buy one with a four speed. Saves you from having to swap one in after the lame ass automatic burns up.

The K5 didn't make it "home" today. I have the $$ and trailer. But I keep getting the run around about the title. Me thinks the young owner is having second thoughts about selling Grandpa's K5. Or he is entertaining other offers.

We'll see what tomorrow brings. I have a "shop day" planned for work on the Camaro with my brother tomorrow. I'd welcome the interruption of welding to go trailer another project home.

I did a drive by to see if the K5 was still at the place I looked at it. Still there. Can't be identified from the road through the tree. Unless you "know" the body lines.

Younger fella that owns it doesn't talk on the phone but rather texts. So I texted him this morning to tell him I drove by just to see if it was still there. I sent a few texts over the last couple of days with no reply.

Finally received a reply after hearing nothing for two days. He's still working on the title/bill of sale.

Title issue of some kind I would guess. Theories are; can't find it, still in grandfathers name, in his and soon to be ex-wife name, or ?

Would be nice to be told what is actually the problem. Instead of beating around the bush.

The anxiety of getting a first gen. K5 is almost as bad as an ebay auction just minutes before the end of an auction. Or something like it. It's aggravating.

Have you asked him about just giving you a bill of sale if he cant find the title

No I haven't. Concerned that just a bill of sale could be a problem. Especially if the Blazer is titled in someones name other than the seller.

The bad scenario I envision is that I hand over the cash, receive a bill of sale and then attempt to file for a lost title. The title comes back in seller's brother/uncle/cousin's name and they decide they want the blazer. Then the seller refuses to give the money back. That would be worst case scenario.

I live on the glass is half empty side of life. So I'll wait until the title situation sorts itself out.

Good call imo. There are other blazers out there if it comes to that.

Heard from the seller today. He is still trying to find the title. He believes they have it narrowed down to a pile of papers. He did offer to give me a bill of sale as well today. I told him I'd wait until the title was located.

I figured he would find the title soon. I kind of gave up and made a large credit card payment this morning. It will be a bit of a scramble to scare up that much cash again. But I would do it as I believe this K5 is worth the US Government type financing.
