71 Body on 87 Frame?

I have a 71 Blazer and a 1987 Blazer (with 2000 5.3/4L60E installed 5 years ago). The 71 looks great and the 87 runs great. I was going to install the motor/transmission from the 87 into the 71 but would rather move the 71 body onto the 87 frame.

Will this work if I shorten the 87 frame?

The body mounts are completely different between the two. It's not as simple as swapping cabs. I think it'd be easier to swap drivetrains.

I agree with Brian....it would be a LOT easier to just swap the motor and transmission to the '71.
