Is there any difference in 67-72 Chevy/GMC truck bedsides that would make them unusable for a large patch panel in a 71 Jimmy. I need to replace everything behind the wheel well and I know I will have a lot of cutting to do but don't want to run into a different body line or something.

Nope, people used them for years. However, someone does make a blazer/jimmy specific bedside now so you could replace the whole side without having to cut it down first.

Buying a new one is my alternate. There is supposed to be a pick up bed side in a junk yard nearby, 70 miles, that I thought I would get. Worst case is I screw it up and buy a new one. What drives me nuts is mine is original and rust free. Thanks for the reply
