What is involved in putting a Chevy (rectangle style) grill on a '71 GMC? Are the supports the same? Is the trim around the grill the same?

I've searched for threads/blogs but haven't seen anything. (I don't have either to compare them to each other.) Wondering if it's worth it to buy a really nice '71 GMC with (older grill style) only to buy new pieces and have to cut/weld everything back.

I think the grille surround, core support, and leading fender edges are different. A lot of work to go to when the GMC front end is pretty cool looking, but that's just my opinion.

Yep. That swap requires changing out pretty much the entire front clip.

It can be done but pretty much would be easier to change the whole front clip. I like the gmc grill and quad headlights better than the 72 Chevy grill personally as well. Has more caracter. The core support would need changed as well with the way the headlights sit.
