Hey, my 71's windshield frame is rusting through, up top all the way across on the inside. Has anyone here ever replaced that part without windhield sealing problems or top fittment issues? Anyone know where I could find a good frame? I live in upstate NY so nothing around here even comes close to being usable.

Good luck brother. There are some good old posts on this site about that even some pics. I'll be tackeling that job soon enough myself. when you do it take pics and post for the next cancer victims benefit.

I know where a frame is, I can go take a look this week if you'd like.
You would have to cut yours off and weld this one on.

Let me know if you're interested.

There's a 71 blazer in a wrecking yard in Pocatello, Idaho called Bailey's. It has a usable windshield frame. I was looking into it for the rust on top of my frame, where the top comes down on it. But then my body man said it was easier for him to just use metal pieces than replace the whole thing. If I remember correctly they wanted $90 if all they had to do was cut the A pillars, much more if you wanted clear down into the cowl. You can contact them at (208) 232-6918. Hope this helps.

i had too fix mine as well. I bent up some pieces outta 18ga, cut away a shytload of origional rusty frame and tacked and hammered the new pieces into place, then trimmed and stich welded every thing. You should put the hard top back on for final welding to hold everything "straight" and skip weld or the heat from welding will pull it all over. Once done welding: seam-seal and bondo, paint and done. I also made the new frame about 3/8" bigger to the inside (the windshield opening is now smaller) and had a new windshield installed newskool, no gasket, just urethane. Works great, flexes nice, no leaks and no gasket to hold water and rot the windshield frame.

Ha, yes Parsells is the heart of the ghetto now. 2/3rds of all rochester homocides, about 60 a year with a little over 200,000 people happen within a few miles of there.
