Hey all I have been reading this forum for over a year and I love this place because of the amount of info available on just about anything I could ever need to know about my truck.. I have a 72 k/5 cst and I swapped in a new 86+ 383 stroker and man do I ever love it!! I have had some problems along the way such as blowing ujoints as though they were not even there(there is nothing more ear wrenching then to here your driveline tring to beat its way into the cab!!) Along with all the engine acc. craping out one after another with the swap I have had to buy two new 350 dollar rear tires cause I just cant seem to keep my foot out of it. I guess that last one is still hard to bitch about considering how fun it is to watch the smoke clouds roll away. Anyway, with the swap I had to go to a long neck water pump because of the billet timing cover and now my belts don't line up right and I have to run the alternator by itself and the power steering belt is also running the water pump. normally it wouldn't bother me accept no matter whether its warm or not the power steering belt squeals like a stuck pig and its gotten to the point that I almost don't like to step on it because of how annoying it is. The only thing I can think to do is switch to a serpentine setup but I don't want to go there yet if there is another way around it. I have talked with everyone I can think of to try and solve this and it seams to me that this would be a very common problem but everyone seams as confused as I am. I have done new belts, belt cond., made it as tight as possible all to no avail. I have done everything myself on this truck and I'm no mech. but I know my way around a tool box but this one has got me stumped. Any help?????
