Problem is the shifter lever (automatic) is loose at the pin that holds it in. Over time, use has made the hole for the pin bigger. Is there a repair for this? Can i weld on it? I did not really want to go with a bigger hole and pin. I tried looking on the forum but no luck finding any answers. If you know or have done this, i would really appreciate any help, thanks

If your talking about welding up the pot-metal casting in the column (were the hole is), that wouldn't be possible. You could try pressing in a larger thin brass tube that would act as a bushing for the regular pin. Lots of hardware stores and hobby shops have thin metal tubing that could work.

If you are talking about the hole in the lever itself then drive the pin out and put a new lever on without a worn out hole.

If you are talking about the hole in the housing the lever fits inside, then you could either do the bushing idea or take the column apart and put a new part on that isn't wallered out.

Yes, the housing is the part that is worn out. Shift lever is fine. I was searching for a way to weld the hole up and re-drill it to the size of the pin. Thinking to try the alumaloy rods and weld it up. Never used them before but maybe worth the gamble. I have three columns in the same shape. IF ANYONE HAS TRIED THIS TECHNIQUE PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR RESULTS, THANKS

I tried welding the housing and it caught fire. Don't weld anything with magnesium in it. ;)

 Maybe to late, lol . . .i ordered the alumaloy rods and will be experimenting soon
