Hello all, was a Ford guy until this morning. Just purchased a '72 Blazer 4x4. I have a couple of questions for you Chevy guys. What would be the best crate engine for my Blazer? (primarily used as an everyday driver with alot of use in the snow) Also where can I find the best prices for parts?

As far as best crate motor goes, what are you looking to do as an everyday driver. You looking to beat the Camero reveing next to ya, or you just looking for a point A to point B engine. There is alot between both. Driveing in snow doesn't have to do with HP or torqe. Thats mostly to do with how much traction you have. As a daily driver are you looking for power or feul economy. because there's a wide range of engines between.

Thanks for the welcome! I would like to be able to cruise down the highway at 75 and have good acceleration 0-60.
Currently I'm running 33's , not sure of my gearing yet.
Don't have to beat a Camaro, maybe just keep up with one.

there are several companies that supply repro parts(LMC truck, Chevy duty, Brothers, etc.) you can also find people on the board who have spare parts for sale. I have a ton of extra parts from my project, email me at [email protected] if you are interested. thanks

Depending on how much money your willing to spend will determine how much power you can get. Sounds like you just want a slightly beefed up 350. Another nice little motor with some good low end power is the 383 Stroker. And there is alway the reliable 400. You can make these engine go from 250hp to 700hp.

I wouldn't go with a big block for what you looking at. You'll find all the power and durability you'll need in a Chevy small Block.

I would go with fuel injection if you can afford it. You can damn near run a fuel injected engine upside down if you had to. But a carb is much easyer on the wallet.
