72 d44 q\'s for rebuild and installation

ok i got a 72 1 ton d44 for cheap at a yard.it off an old international and has 4:10 gears that i need. but the rotors, calipers, and locking hubs are shot. first, will it fit on my 86 k5 without having to cut it up? second it has a 3" lock nut on the end of the hub that i cant get off. and finally anyone got any ideas where i can get the parts to rebuild this monster? hope someone can help thx.

I think it will be too skinny (not to mention a 5 lug). IMO you would probably be better off just switching the 4.10's into a GM D44 housing.

its an 8 lug and im not sure what u mean by skinny? wish could even find a d44 gm around here.

does the locknut have 4 small holes in it square ones?

there is a special socket that the auto spare store carries for this cost like 5-15$ it shoud be black and 1/2 drive

it came to be a 2&3/4" socket for the nut. the axle housing is too skinny and i have found a gm housing that i am going to use. can i use the 1 ton shafts and gears for the gm housing?
