I am rebuilding my '72 K5. I am putting new wheels on it but I need info on the front brakes first. The discs that are on it are not factory and were on it when I got it. They are drilled and are 11-3/4" in diameter. I have about 6-3/4" from the center of the axle to the outside edge of the caliper so the total largest diameter would be about 13-1/2". What is the diameter of the stock discs? I want to run 15" Mickey Thompson's and I need to make sure these will fit behind them without rubbing. Are these measurements the same as stock? I know the wheels will fit with stock discs. Thanks

It's not just diameter that you need to worry about, the wheel backspacing will also determine your success.

Wheels with a lot of backspacing will have more clearance issues than wheels with a shallower backspace.

My suggestion is to borrow a 15" wheel with similar backspacing to the ones you want and try to test-fit it. There are too many unknowns and variables in your question to give you a simple answer.

The backspacing is not a problem. The rims I am looking at have 3-7/16" backspace. I need to know if the diameter of the disc and caliper will fit behind the wheel.

There is only ONE way to know for sure.....
