72' gas tank in a 85'?

So I am going to put my tank in the back on the K5, I dont want to use the K5 tank since its so big and I dont need that much fuel for just trail riding. So I got a 72' K5 tank. It is a 17 gallon I believe and will work perfect size wise.
I know the sending unit is different but what about the hose connections??? It has 2 small tubes on either end that I am unsure about. Anyone got any info??

If I remeber right the one was a vent the there was a fuel return. I swaped in a 78 blazer tank in for my sock one but that was about 3 years ago now.

The 78 sending unit works fine with my Fuel gauge.
