I'm a fan of the wood beds. Both of my stepsides are done up. For everyone else these are the same old pictures I always post.

I put 5 coats of clear on the red truck and the white truck has 3 coats.
I used a glossy clear on the red truck and a flat clear on white truck.
The biggest challenge is more of maintenance, of keeping it dry and clean of dirt.
yeah, that's my problem, I plan to use it like a truck, and I know it will get banged up, so I was going to destress it
The 60-66 Suburbans had a wood floor behind the front seats. They weren't nearly as nice, but served the purpose.

I had a '71 K10 Suburban that had a factory plywood rear floor,the marine quality stuff soaked with resin,and 1" thick..
It was a bitch to cut it up and get it off..
It was about the only thing holding the truck together !..bought it for parts,when I cut off the roof,I kicked the rear quarters and they fell right off..drivers side door had the hinges rot out of the cowl,it was laying in the back of the truck when I got it!..
I've seen several 1955-59 Suburbans with factory wood plank floors in the past too..

thanks for the comments, it wasn't to hard to pull off, only difficult part was the 'B' post at the bed floor. rear cross member was a 73 and up, had a recess for the wood and the ribs lined up with factory holes
as far as the boards go, you just have to flop them from side to side and front to back for the wheel houses to have enough matrl. to work with. All standard pick up kit

First attempt was from RA, kit left much to be desired, caliper mount bushings did not fit
