'72 K5 - AJ's Gray Matter Build

SWEET! Those are big ticket items. Both of those were on my list but got bumped from lack of coin. If your gona sell something thats welded the welds better be that nice. HA! Thats why I'll never be able to sell anything I weld. :waytogo::waytogo:

very clean installs AJ.. nice...

a killer rad to me is kinda like the DC system.. can NEVER have too much battery power, or cooling capabilities...

That's why this is taking me so long. I've been holding out for the parts I'm not willing to sacrifice on.

Thanks Paul.

Very nice, I like your chioces.
I also understand the time and holding out thing.

UPDATE 9/4/11 - Fuel Lines. Been slowly collecting AN fittings, hose, and tubing to plumb the truck. Finally found some time to get the fuel lines run. I'm going with -8AN supply and -6AN return.

Bent some aluminum tubing down the length of the frame for the hard lines. Supported about every 13" - 14". Used padded tube clamps and made up some spacers to get them off the frame rail.

Mallory fuel filter. Short run of Aeroquip braided stainless from the tank.

Engine side. Need to make a small bracket that will attach to the top bolt of the water pump. It'll hold a tubing separator to keep the lines in place.

Tranny cooler and power steering lines are next when I can find time.

AJ, that block of timber your using for a fan blade might need some reconsideration...;)

-Brian

Knew someone would spot that eventually. The core support was leaning back with the radiator, fans, and the battery already on it. So, I stuck a block of wood in to, well, support the support :D

This build gives a lot of us wood..... 'nuff said.

:usaflag:

Good to see you still pushing forward AJ. Looks nice.

When do you think you'll have that beast back on the pavement? :D

69 blazer

AJ, tried to PM you but your inbox is full. I have some questions for you about the blazer if you have some time. Please email back to
[email protected]

Thanks

Has anyone heard from AJ?

I see that his membership expired, so he won't be able to update this thread.... :doah:

Seems like he was just about to fire up the beast again with that new motor, I was looking forward to more pics and video.

Just texted him, got this reply:

"Hi Ben, Yeah, I'm ok. Been dealing with a lot of personal and family issues over the last 8 months. So the truck hasn't been a priority."

Good to hear he's still got the truck.....

Life happens. I can certainly understand how that goes... We'll have to give him some time to get things sorted and hopefully he will come back around when the time is right. :waytogo:

Dang! Mike caught my subscription renewal almost immediately over on Greg's thread. The bump here literally made me laugh out loud. You guys are awesome.

Been piddling around with the plumbing over the past year....far from being anything I'd call "progress". I'll get some pics up this weekend.

Overdue UPDATE 1/5/13 - It's still progress, right?? - For those not in the know, the truck was put on jack stands at the shop and effectively shelved while I dealt with a number of personal health issues and family issues. Been a rough year, but I still have the truck. Things have finally settle enough that I'm getting back into the saddle (queue Aerosmith, please).

I've piddled a little here and there on the truck plumbing, but its far from being anything substantial. Anyways, down to business... here's the update pics, as promised.

Braided stainless (teflon lined) for the power steering

Tranny cooler. Yup, braided stainless all the way to the tranny. Anyone seeing the pattern here?

Braided stainless to the fuel rail and the regulator. You'll notice the heater hoses are still rubber. I'm still working on them. They haven't worked out as well as planned.

Flexible stainless for the radiator hoses too. Showing the lower because of how pleased I was with how it held it's shape for routing around everything. Tried several different rubber hoses prior and nothing worked as well.

Possible placement for the ARB compressor?? I have some thoughts on how to make this look really trick.

More to come as things continue to settle. Good to be back.
