I am 2 months into my blazer ownership and I have few questions. At some point one of the previous owners bondo over all the rust so when I bought it I knew the rust was bad but I now know its really bad. My drivetrain is great and brakes work well.

1. Whats peoples opinion of replacement body parts?

2. Does anyone know where to get a replacement windshield frame? Mine is toast.

3. My rig has a 4" Skyjacker lift. If you hit bump in the road it throws you around pretty good. In my opinion it rides like crap, but I nothing to compare it to. Any suggestion on how to make ride better?

Replacement body parts? Some are better than others none are just bolt and go.

Windshield frame replacement part does not exist. Search internet, Junk yards or fab up your own.

skyjacker lift:dunno:

Hope you got a grinder and a welder and Welcome to the site

I try and get replacement parts from a donor vehicle if possible and work with those.

remanned parts some good, some bad, I put quite a few on mine and certain companies are good on some parts, not so good on others. Mainly interior parts and rubber components and the like.

All my patches were cut from old trucks and doors and front fenders were replaced with junkyard parts. I luckily didn't have to do the windshield frame replacement.

Fortunately I have lots tools and I have a feeling the that my welding skills will be much better after this project. If they made the replacement parts out of the the same gauge steel as original I wouldn't have problem with them. Going to start with rocker panels and roll cage this winter. Nothing major I want to keep it driveable for the spring.

I think we've all said that at some point. :haha: Let us know how it actually pans out.

Haha, I was just going to make a similar response. Rocker panels are just the tip of the rust-berg when it comes to these things.

The golden statement... :pimp:

As far as panels, at first I bought from LMC. 99% of those panels were junk and now sitting behind the garage. I had much better luck with Classicheartbeat and GMCPAULS. Both of those guys are on 69-72 and are good vendors with the best panels that are available for these rigs.

Welcome to the site and bring on MOAR pics. :waytogo: :D

I have looked at yours and Greg's build threads and have learned lot from them. Thanks for the info on LMC that's who I was going to order from. I will post more pics soon.

Cool deal. Glad all those pics helped someone. :waytogo:

Once you get into those rockers, if ya need any help, just ask. A few of us here have gone the distance with the rust gods. :D

and post more pics. :pimp:

Love the color and looks like a good start. I cant see your first pics only the last 2. But looks like a good start.

Boy that remindes me about 6 years ago I was in the same boat. Leave the roof on. Leave the doors on as long as you can. Before you remove the top Brace the door span because it will move. There are pillar bottoms made for that repair don't go to LMC to buy them.

rust bitch

I don't want to put the roof back on buts its the best for replacing the rockers. The previous restoration job primarily consisted of bondo over rust, so I am finding out its a bigger rust bucket then I thought it was.
