This has probably been asked before, but have any of you with the fully removable top purchased a weatherstrip for the top-to-windshield frame that actually fits?

The one I bought for the inner does not fit...it is too long and the ends are not even close.

Yes, first one from LMC was too long, they sent me another and was fine including the ends. This was a few years ago tho.

I remember that now...

Do you remember what the manufacturer was? Was it Precision or SoftSeal or ????

Can't really say what it was, but neither of those.
IIRC generic numbers on a generic bag like LMC likes to do.

OMG! I actually found a real GM NOS seal...I won't believe it til I see it with my own eyes. The purchase has already been made:

I got the seal today, ends are a not exactly like the reman'd ones they sell today.

Wish I could get a 3D rendering of it and make correct ones

The one I bought from Classic, the ends just didn't look like these

Frustrating that they can't make things right. Don't even bother if you aren't going to take the time to make reproduction parts that aren't close.

Ran into the same thing with seals from LMC for the bed rails to topper years back. The molded ends were on the wrong sides. Plus their rear window to topper seal was not formed correctly. I hounded them a bit, even sending them a piece of a factory one at their request, but I never heard from them again. I can only hope they corrected the problem using that piece.

They were quick to refund my money and not ask for the parts back, but that does you no good when you actually need the piece. Companies like Sofseal and the like should be begging people to send in original parts to replicate exactly.

For what it's worth, I made the offer to SoffSeal and to Steele Rubber and to Precision.

I've gotten no replies...not even an acknowlegement of the email.

Not enough demand for them to bother.

Well...LMC and JC Whitney and Classic all sell one...so somebody made one sometime...it just wasn't very accurate

Guess I'll end up gluing that one on my Blazer and that will be that...it just makes me mad that I cannot preserve this part

Those three are all the same supplier, classic sells the same body mount kit as Lmc for our year.
When you first asked about that seal thought you were talking about the front seal. The seal you mentioned I also bought from Lmc and yes it is cheesy but it works.
My top hasn't been on for years so haven't worried about it.

Soft seal says they make their own parts (if you read their 'About Us' section) which is why I suggested contacting them. I've ordered weatherstripping from Soffseal to replace other brand new bad fitting weatherstripping from either Classic Industries or Brother's (forget which) and there was a definite difference in shape and elasticity so I tend to believe they make their own.

I'd give them a chance to get back to you first. After all, it was probably Friday when they got your email and key people may have taken a long weekend or the email needs to make its way up the chain. Patience grasshopper - you may have the only new and original piece known to man. :thumb:

Also, did you send them those pics so they can see how theirs are different then the original?
