Just FYI...

I have seen it asked if these are cut out for the overhead console in the front - they are not. Also not available without the cutout for the rear a/c.

I am seeing these listed for $499.99 (for front and rear pair, covered in your choice of several colors in cloth or perforated vinyl) online and in catalogs. Rock Auto sells them for $166.79 per half (front and rear sold separately) covered or $138.99 uncovered (bare). If you don't have rear a/c, you could buy one front and two rears (uncovered) and scab the rears together to cover the rear a/c cutout. Then cover yourself with material sourced locally.

That's $416.97 (+shipping) for the three boards. Covering yourself should run less that $100. You are even better off if you have rear a/c. The $167 you save on two covered boards should cover shipping + some extra.

They are not shown listed for all years and models so look up a 1984 k10 6.2 diesel if you don't see it listed for your year/engine combo.

I am not affiliated with any vendor and have no financial interest in the sales of the above mentioned products. Just hoping to save somebody some coin...

Also, Rock Auto is a vendor here so maybe you can get a little extra discount?

I can't imagine that there are 3 or 4 different companies tooled up to produce a kinda obscure part like this. I don't think LMC has any pictures in their print catalog, maybe online.

Rock Auto does have pictures on their site.

Just about anything LMC sells, if you can find it somewhere else it will be cheaper. Sometimes A LOT CHEAPER. That said, I do order from them occasionally because of the sheer simplicity.

Their catalog is definately worth it's weight in gold (for the exploded diagams if nothing else); it's FREE!!!

Although Rock Auto's prices are cheaper, by the time you get hit with shipping from multiple warehouses, the cost can be equal to or greater than buying locally. I generally use them when I am planning a project and want specific brand parts. Instead of going all over town I just make one order and have the stuff in 3 or 4 days.

Example: I like SKF bearings, not pick on pad or shoe brands but like rivited, I like to replace ALL the hardware and adjusters when I do brakes. Easier to order from rock auto than to hunt it all down locally. Cheaper? Usually not...ymmv!

I think if you dump the part number on this into rockautos first page that has the search option, it will work. But this is what I found searching headliner for 1987 K5: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=4978470&cc=1061491&jnid=495&jpid=4

Here is an '87 R20 Suburban listing: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=4978500&cc=1300813&jnid=573&jpid=7

These appear different than the ones I've seen. Just checked LMC, the "Highliner" is what I was thinking of, and has speakers and what not, so not exactly the same thing: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/csb/full.aspx?Page=97

Yes, the "highliner" is an option for pickups and k5's. The 2nd link to the suburban one is the one I am referring to. Much cheaper from rock auto than LMC. The "highliner" used to be available from JC Whitney and others. Probably cheaper there than LMC.

Not a bad piece (the Highliner) , but the unexplained/unused bulge in it is unsightly.

I think what you are referring to are locations for you to mount a head unit, CB, and/or gauges overhead...there used to be a pretty good description in the JC Whitney catalog, but I haven't gotten one of those in years.

Oh is THAT what it's for? Oddly shaped for a head unit, especially since there is a lump in the center that appears to be for a radio-sized component already, but I guess gauges in that spot might be somewhat practical, although they would need to angle down to be very visible, and I don't think that does.

I just traded my crew cab for a nice 1987 V20 Suburban and it has the sagging headliner. Just curious about the fit and finish of this headliner. Are they a good quality item?

I'm getting ready to install one of these in a 90 that was completely missing the original one. I need to cut it for the overhead console and rear AC . Sucks not having the old one to at least use a template. Any suggestions on the best way to cut this and not screw it up?

It's a fabric coated one from LMC.

I would have definitely ordered the uncovered version and trimmed it first, covered it after…

I think they’re all cut for the rear ac box. The front console you’ll just have to make a template and trace it out. Put cardboard up against the edges of the mounted console, tape pieces together as necessary to get around corners and such. You may be able to use the mounting holes to transfer the correct position, be creative. Make a small hole that will not be visible first and work out from there. You can probably cut the ABS with a good heavy pair of scissors. Harbor Freight sells a pair that works well…
