I've been here off and on for a while now so
This is about 4.5 years ago, GM goowrench 350 engine, th350, 203 transfer, 14FF rear D44 front, with 4 inch lift, 36 goodyears and a set of god awful stacks.

Alittle bit later getting a rebuilt 357 sbc, after the 350 developed a rod knock.

About 3.5 years ago with the stacks cut down.

Then about a year ago I decided I was going to build it into a more extreme offroader. OFF with her bed.

Some mock up

Added a 31 gallon gas tank from a 80s sub between the frame rails. Makes a grand total of 71 gallons total or 852 mile range assuming I could use every bit of gas out of each tank.

Built a winch mount and rear plate with shackles. The winch is a Smittybuilt Xrc 10 rated at 10 k. So far its been a very good winch for the $.

Here is how the under the bed in the rear is arranged. There will also be a Viair 350C that will just fit between the two battery boxes. I'll plumb that into the tank with a pressure switch and from there run a line to the outside fender boxes.

Cut up the front end last weekend. This is what it looks like mocked up and ready to weld.

Shackle flip a and the rear disc convo have been in the works for some time now I just need to find the time to have the truck down for a weekend.
Since I decide to make it a more capable 4x4 the build has been going rather slow due to spare time, cash flow, a bunch of other projects, and to top it all off its my DD.
The goal for the truck is to be able to have a comfortable expedition rig that can keep up with the majority of the rigs on the trails. As you can See I have a long way to go.

Naw man your getting there good. A very good start everything looking pretty good. Even though of us with really built rigs usually started with some thing stock of close to it years ago.

Keep the same rig keep modifying to your liking and in a couple years you will have one tons bigger tires and be contemplating all sorts of dumb stuff!:D

dang man your loyal to your truck, your dailey driving a truck with a dovetailed front haha gotta love it. also like how you can watch your tires go from new to bald threw out the pics lol nice build ill be watching this one

Thanks Guys. Nothin really new other than I sectioned a hood then it got tore up .
I also got another distraction :D
My dad converted it from 2wd in 1998.

Long time no post! The green truck started having trans issues a while back so it's been sitting. I could fill up the trans then drive to work and back home when it would start slipping. It sat for 8 months or so til two weekends ago when i decided to start on it again. Put a charge in the battery and busted right off. I'm pretty proud of that! Bad gas making an erratic idle though.

That brings it up to today when I started to play musical chairs with the front springs. The 4inch rough countrys are coming off and going on the crewcab and 52s off an old suburban I used to have are going back on the green truck.

A while back I read a thread about someone doing a 52 swap without relocating the rear spring hanger? Im trying it.:doah:

Right now I've got one side mocked up with a 7inch on center shackle. To satisfy my own curiosity I tried it in the stock front location. Even with no weight it has a wicked negative shackle angle.

Took some pics for giggles.

I've got almost all the material for the adjustable front spring hangers and the winch mount. Should have it mostly together next weekend.
