When we were buffing we broke thru in a few places, so we recoated and have not had time to sand and buff again yet.
Budget is the big deal here... we both put in several weekends, but the truck was driven nearly every day!

My guesswould be that we have $70 in paint and materials.
My guess is that he is still under $1000(excluding the wheels) for the whole project!
Interior is next!

What do you think?

Callen are still in business and what is interesting is that the camper has a steel frame..
I got these pictures from their website.. Shows how strong these shells are..

Now, I was think this will make a GREAT Wilderness Camper!
It needs a bit of TLC... new flyscreens and a new roof vent, but I have some good ideas!

What do you all think?

Looking good!

BTW: It's a K10...C=2 wheel drive, K=4 wheel drive.

Dont feel bad, my K10 is a Jimmy on registration

Thanks Guys!

Kinda strange...
People here in Orange County get the hell out the way when we drive it around...
:D:D
Gotta love THAT!

What is really funny was a few months ago, when gas prices were at the peak, a smartass asked me how the gas milage was, as I was pumping gas in it at Costco....
He was clearly showing off in front of his girl/wife who was sitting in his Toyota Hybrid.
I walked over to him and (I am English born and bred) in my best accent said
"Yes, it is not the most economical truck, about 8MPG, but you have to see the big picture... "
"Now, What is your Insurance/Tags/Payment on this fine Hybrid Toyota?"
He looked at me in shock, and said it was none of my business.
Gotcha!
I said, "Yeah, it must be about $500/month at least for the payment alone... that sucks, cos I spend about $200 a month on Gas/Insurance/Tags.. and my truck is going UP in value!"
"If you are smart, you factor everything into your running costs and see what is REALLY the most economical way".
He mumbled something, and got in his econobox and silently slipped away... I bet his manhood was shrinking by the second as his girl grinned at me!

Yeah I still can't understand people that just count what they are spending at the pump.
I have yet to buy a vehicle for more than a $1000 and spend more than gas and a few buck for registraton per year $51 was the highest so far for registration, and insurance as you mentionned gets lower as the car ages.
I have made money on most vehicles I sold back, the worst one I broke even.

My wife was complaining about my old trucks till I reminded her that her 06 k1500s payment is 565 a month. I can put a lot of gas in my old beaters for that even if most of my cars are bbcs.

looks good you and your son did a good job. and thats what its all about spending time with your son.
