73 Stock non tilt steering lock?

I have a 73 K5 with a Battery problem. If I leave the truck sit for 2 or 3 days there is no battery when I get back to that car. I was told from a Good that if your steering column does not lock the battery will drain. The guy told me that he has a Camaro that he has the same problem, if he can get his wheel to lock his battery will NOT drain but if it does not lock is battery will drain.

So here are my questions.

1. did the 73 have a steering lock?
2. If it does not lock could that cause the battery drain?

all 73-up columns lock, 72 older didnt cuz ignition was in dash


that is false about a battery drainign just cuz the column is not locked,

you cna leave ignition lock in off unlocked position for as long as you want and battery will not drain down, this is how ive been aprking my vehicles for ten years now, with keys in and key unlocked postion, just one position back from run and i have never everhad a batttery go dead cuz of that lol



id say you have shorted alternator or a short in a wire somewhere else, or just a bad battery, there are several places that will connect your car to voltmeter and such and test alternator outputs and battery condition for free, such as Rexx battery specialists and auto zone, etc., they can tell you if you have a short, draw, and good or bad battery, and good or bad variable RPM alternator outputs, somethning is wrong and you need to find out what it is

I iam going to guess it is a short, beacuse...

The i have had two different batterys in with the same result.
when i get the trucks started it runs all day on the Alt and then after sitting for 2 days not Battery.
