I know there's a good market for 1st gen 2wd blazers, but what about a 74?

I found one a guy is trying to sell me but I don't need another project.
It's up here in NY

They are typically worth more than a 4wd blazer is. Being a full convertible helps it too. I have an 82 2wd k5 in my garage that is getting put together over the next couple months. I plan on selling it after its done to help fund my 4x4 addiction

And 2wd's are much cheaper to build than 4 wd's are too. They don't need 1 tons, or doublers, or cages, or lockers, or beadlocks..............

Kind of depends on where you are really.

There is a guy on here who has a mid 70s ( not full vert) in Utah, he is going to end up scrapping it. No one wants it.

I would like a full vert 2 wd.

My plans are a little odd though for it. A 6.5 TD and just make it ultra comfy.

A cruiser not a racer or a brawler, just a cruiser

This is what mine will look like when its done. I think they are cool little street trucks

Almost owned one for the frame at 125, but the guy decided to cut the frame up for door bars on his derby car. One 78 k5 that will never be brought back to life :frown1:

I agree, 2wd full verts are saweet. Almost as cool as full vert 4x4's...
:haha:

I'd love to have one though. Very cool.

Do you have any more info on this? Are you going tobuy it, any pics price? It will depend on condition also, you don`t see many here in the Northeast.

I had a 1975 2wd Blazer--fenders still had "K5" badges from the factory!--you'd think they would have called it a "C5",but nope!...it came with a straight 6 ,a 250 camel humper with a one barrel carb, and a 3 speed manual trans--...I tried endlessly to get the carb to not "surge" at cruising speeds, tried fooling with the APT screw your not supposed to touch, and I gave up and put a 307 V8 in it I had from a parted put '71 Suburban K-10 I had..A friend was scrapping a '74 Vega,so I got a free Saginaw 4 speeed for it,it bolted right in with no modification other than having to use the shifter that came in the Vega on it...the thing was fast,it would leap off the line like a jack rabbit,I used to blow Mustang GT's off until I got up to about 50 mph with it at stoplight races!..

Wish I had kept it in a way,I sold it for 450 bucks,,I had paid 150 for it--it needed floors and door bottoms, and new rockers when I got it...I was into 4x4s more and didn't use the truck enough to justify keeping it,but had I known they would become a desireable collector item for the "low rider" crowd ,I would have hung onto it longer and tried selling it for more than I did..I liked having a "summer" Blazer that rode nicer than a 44 and still had a convertible roof...its funny how a lot of people went Ewww,2wd?? whe they saw it...but now a lot of them want one,and few still exist!..

I passed ip a '72 2wd one for 150 bucks back when I had that one too, another 6 cylinder one..that one would be worth even more than a 73 up one now!..

Rare? Yes.

In demand? Uhmmmm...

Just seems like to me for as rare as they are there isn't a clamor for them. However that's here. Might ask around on some of the more "street" and "2wd" friendly forums like the 67-72 forum (not our subforum, the actual seperate forum that's out there) and someone might bite there.
A few people here have had trouble selling theirs.
It'd be neat to have sure, but I wouldn't bother owning one.
