I'm having trouble trying to figure out the misfire on my blazer. It happened while I was going down the highway at about 40-50mph and hasn't stopped since. I just rebuilt the bottom end put a 268 comp cams with springs and lifters to go with it new valve seals. I've already swapped my cap and rotor plugs and plug wires. I also noticed bluish white smoke coming out of the passenger side tailpipe. Is it possible I have a bad tranny vacuum modulator? Or bad rings? Haven't had a chance to do a compression test on it yet. I've always driven the truck everywhere never had an oil consumption issue.

check the hose leading from the modulator disconnect it and blow it out if there is trany fluid its bad.

You wouldnt think so but any thing is posibale, and i had bad modulators.the reason i found it is the trans was slowly losing fluid.

Are you losing coolent?

White smoke = coolant

Could have broke one of your new springs or a cam lobe failed.

Check if all plugs are firing.

Had one broken years ago on my blazer and could only hear it with the oil cap off.
Did the same thing, driving along and started missing.
Broke one on my 4 cyl ranger and could not, just a suggestion but I'd verify spark on all eight first.
