anyone have any suggestions where to get a pre-made hoist setup to lift the top off a 74 blazer and store towards the ceiling?

Sorry can't help you on a pre made system. Always wanted a 2wd blazer. If you can post some pics. I'm sure the guys and gals on this site would like to see it.

these are some really bad pics of it. got it for a STEAL!, I have since lifted bcak to 4WD stock height, put on 20 year old NOS keystone wheels, 33x12.5 tires (raised white letters). this has full interior, full custom headliner (entire inside matches the seats...no white fiberglass, 98 suburban power interior

will see what I can come up with on the hoist. thanks

fyi, this is my 3rd K5...

thanks, but I have a finished garage, and am looking for a power system, completely ready to install. ever known anyone to use this?>>> http://protopaccessories.stores.yahoo.net/hoist-a-top-manual-blazer-land-cruiser-scout.html

thanks!!! any help is appreciated. got a 74 2wd wtih 7.5 years of frame up restoration...smooth red top, red body, 400HP, and a 13 second qtr mile...gotta take care of the baby...

Would you really spend $400 grrrr on crap like that. Why don't you spend $25 on the membership to ck5 and $100 on supplies to make a system and save yourself $275.

I used a boat winch and two pulleys plus one eye bolt from the beam in my carport. I run 4 of those fabric ratcheting tie down down straps up to the hook, then crank the top up to the ceiling of the carport...then just drive out from under it.

I spent less than $40 on the whole thing and turned it into a 15 minute one man job.

I would have one concern with the lift system you are looking at...you have a full top convertible and that system is going to put a lot of strain on the front of the top. At the rear it is not a big concern, but with that extension over the front seats it may cause you some trouble.

I looked at several pre-made systems before deciding to build mine. I called some of those companies who make the Jeep top removal systems and they could not guarantee their systems could handle the weight of my fulltop. All in all I spent about $100 to build what I have and it works great. 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off.

thanks craig, I had seen your system, looks good. unfortunately I have a finished garage and I am looking to pwoer it. I have my garage door people engineering a simple solution that I hope to bring back to the crowd here. I have seen a few ideas and am trying to come up wtih a solution that wil be both easy and automated, and inexpensive! will keep you posted, thanks! this is my 3rd K5, and I am planning on keeping this one for a VERY long time wtih everythign that has been done to it and I am doing to it. cheers.

Are they tying it in with the garage door opener? I thought about doing that but it seemed too risky to me. But I can see it working if the mechanism is strong enough...

Yeah if my garage was finished it would have been way harder for me to build what I have.
