Gorillajeep
1/2 ton status
Ok, after much soul searching. . . I'm going to put the Blazer up for trade/sale. My situation has changed, I do not "have" to sell it now. That also doesn't change the fact that it really doesn't suit my family needs anymore. I have not wheeled it since Fathers day last year 2014. I do still drive it around the neighborhood, and to work on nice days. It is still tagged and insured. With that being said, it's a trail rig: see description.
'74 K5 Blazer 350/th350/203.
Engine:
Original 74 motor. New intake, dressed up valve covers and new carburetor, swapped over to HEI distributor. leaks a little oil, but good strong running motor. (Folder on maintenance)
Transmission:
th350 with shift kit. pulls good. Never was a problem.
Transfer-case:
Original 203, with Mile Marker 2wd conversion shaft kit. Works really well. 2WD low is a great feature. Custom rear drive shaft (CV and bigger joints) from Carolina drive line, extended front shaft.
Body:
When I got, it had been crushed by a tree. (see pic) It was repaired and repainted, to the Blue and white today (see pic) It had on it a 6" RC lift and 37" tires then, Little rust in back corners, Fenders have been trimmed for tire clearance. Rockers were cut out and replaced with 2x4 3/8" wall tube with 1.75x.120 wall tube sliders. Blazer tale gate removed, truck tail gate. Custom front and rear bumpers. I have two soft tops one white, one black (the Black top is in better shape, but needs restitching)
Interior:
Not much to speak of, full 6 point cage 1.75" .120 DOM, and Jeep wrangler seats (they were free) No back seat,(I have a seat out of an '05 Suburban with seat belts built in, not installed yet) stock gauges, no dash cover, no radio, no AC, No heat, needs the fan motor relay. Crank windows, Cracked windshield. Rubber floor mat for front floor.
Suspension: All DIY4X components, Kert is an awesome guy to deal with, products are all top notch! About 5" of lift total.
Front susp: A-bomb front, with HD eye replacement, 7.25" shackles, 52" front springs, Bilstein 7100 remote res, shocks, all poly bushings EZ inch moved front axle one inch forward.
Rear susp: Rear shackle flip and switch, rear front hangers moved forward for 63" springs, MORE Shock in-boarding kit. 7.25" shackles cross tied. Bilstein 7100 remote res shocks. It all works extremely well, flexes well, and drives down the road fine. (as long as you do not have to do any quick maneuvers) It actually rides nice with that soft suspension. (see pic) Still fits through a regular garage door.
Tires: Running 15/39.5/15 TSL on 15x8 wagon wheels. (I dig the classic look) They tires have been grooved for better flex and traction. They are all 80% or better tread wise.
Axles:
Front: Dana 60 out of 80's(something) new bearings, races, kingpins, seals, and 4.10 gears. Lincoln locked (welded spider gear) Cross over steering with ram assist. and XJ steering shaft conversion. Frame has weld on patch for steering box. Blue Torch fab works dif cover.
Rear: GM 14 bolt, welded spiders, Blue Torch fab works disc break conversion, (I think, got it with the axles) 4.10 gears. new rotors, calipers, and pads. DIY4X Razor back dif cover.
What I am looking for: If you are looking to upgrade you K-5, I have done all the work.
Something that can be more of a Daily driver. It doesn't have to be pretty,I can fix paint, as long as the inside is decent. It must be a K5, It must have Heat, working or fixable AC, full interior, all seats and seat belts. I would like and 89-91 preferred but not necessary. I would like fuel injection. Can be lifted but no more then 4 inches. 33 to 35" tires. NO JUNK! or total rust buckets. A Little rust, OK I know what these trucks are like. Don't be afraid to shoot me offers, I hate seeing mine just sit. I would love for someone get it and do what it's built for. I am not unreasonable, but don't insult me. Cash price $6500.00 or trade a family friendly K5.
