'75 K5 Crawler goes on a diet.

Looking good so far, but one question.

What motor is in there. Something looks funny.

most likely a cadillac 500? Although the sig says 540. Stroker 540 caddy motor.

I dont think its a Ford, not from what my limited eyesight sees on them valve covers. I would say Cadillac 500. Stroked and what not, Iv searched high and low for one as it would be a neat changeup from the ocean of BBCs at our local spots.

Wow I have an old bild thread from where I did it. Its been years ago. I am thinking Brannon C was the first I knew of & I was second. There may have been others around that time but I can't place them.

It is a Caddy 500. It is stroked to a 540. There are quite a few advantages to the Cadillac engine. I am more than happy with this one.

Come on guys a TURD engine,,,really? I'm hurt! J/K

EDIT:

Here are a few links where I did the swap:

Removed DIY4x rear shock inboarding kit(sorry Kert). Gonna attach the shocks to the cage.

Inboard kit with brackets I made to raise the upper shock mount to where it almost touched the floorpan was right at 20 pounds.

Here are the shock tabs:

Here is Kert's crossmember with the tabs on it:

"At this point I am leaning towards narrowing the K5 at the firewall, which would most likely turn into narrowing the sliders & reworking the door bars" Boz42 on a different thread.

DOOOOOO EEETTT! I am going to narrow mine up another 2" or so on each side.

Also you need to move your radiator back, it will open up all sorts of possibilitys for mounting your winch:D:D:D:D
