trying to see what options I would have in trying to get a tilt steering g column in my 75 GMC Jimmy.
Also wondering how hard this project would be?

Would love to just get a nice new drop in unit but way to pricey from what I saw when searching maybe someone knows a good source..
thanks

I've been seeing alot of your posts lately. I'm just going to say it. You're too cheap to be doing this.
The things you want cost money if you cant do it yourself.
This is a full top blazer. It's not an 81 2wd half ton long bed. No offense to my 2wd homies. But you need to do this truck a favor, not cheap it out and screw it up.
I understand it is your truck and you can do as you please. As an observer, this might be out of your skill level. I'm basing that off of all of your posts. Not just this one.

First. Buy or download a factory service manual. That is going to answer so many questions for you.

A steering column is an easy swap. I mean 10 minutes. We have the resources to rebuild sloppy columns. We can help you. Just help yourself first. I would hate to see you in the end have to redo this truck because you were cheap or uneducated in the beginning. This truck needs you.
Let's do this truck well and help you build it how you want.

I have replaced 4 or 5 tilt columns over the years. Tilt ones break more for me. The non tilt just last longer. I used to just go to the junkyard and grab a new tilt for $100 and swap it in. Decent junkyard tilt columns are difficult to find now. Your '75 is 43 years old now, finding good used parts is going to be tough. There are several different year breaks on columns which make finding a bolt in one that much more difficult. I have 1 truck left with a tilt and when it wears out it will probably get a straight one due to the economics of it. Its not worth the hassle to me to retain the tilt. Unless the bearings are totally shot leave your straight column alone while you are building the rest of your truck. Its one of the pieces that you don't really need, focus on the rest and splurge on a new column once your truck is sorted if you really want it. Good columns are expensive and rebuilding is difficult, its just the way it is.

Using the tilt column to get yourself into the truck is the first step to rebuilding it. Working on old squares is a labor of love to most of us. Most of us started with little skills and expanded them as we learned from the school of hard knocks. The cost of shop labor goes up every year. This forum is loaded with talent and is willing to share it with all that ask. It is up to you to use this knowledge to your best ability.

Thanks for feedback will stick with straight stock untll other projects and completed and circle back around...
It really has no issues I just like having options of the wheel position but not a nesessity right now I guess...
