76 K5 Blazer - Restomod

1976 K5 Blazer Cheyenne
I would personally just put a cam back in and injection of choice.
If you wheel with lots of tire spin or torque 37's will break a half ton axle fairly quickly.

Thanks for that. I believe 3/4-ton axles also utilize a Dana 44; is that correct? So, to truly upgrade, I'd need to look at a Dana 60 front and 14-bolt rear? Which would increase the cost of the project by quite a bit?

I am going to try 37's on d44, though they may not fit with my current lift, and I may not like rpm range. For your gear choice if you stay with the th350 4.88 would be good, if you go to a .7 over drive trans(700r4/4l60) you might want to go 5.13 or 5.38.
The 406 has a longer stroke than 6.0, wouldn't even consider the 5.3 for a heavy k5+ wheeling. I'd stick with 406 and the roller cam update. Or a 454

Thanks for all the info. I spent some time on the ORD site yesterday and am thinking, from a budget standpoint, that I'll stay with leaf springs and focus my $$ on axles, steering, body work. I will start looking for 3/4-ton running gear as well.

I'm looking at a set of H2 wheels. Other than potential back-spacing issue is there anything else I should be aware of in running these on a K5 Blazer? Thanks!

I currently have aa 203 transfer case with a part-time kit in it. I've just purchased a 14 ff and will be purchasing a D60 for the front. What is your advice regarding the 203 case? Keep it and run it? Find a 205 instead? Also, I just read a thread from 2003 about running 10w-40 instead of gear oil in the 203 t-case; I'd never heard of that until today. Is that really good advice?
With the swap to D60 front and 14 ff rear will both drivelines need to be modified for length? Or should both still fit assuming I keep the same lift; currently has 4" lift and I'm thinking I may go to 5" during this process.
Thanks!
