76 K5: Megasquirt EFI, Electric Fan, and ICON Coilovers

So, now that I finally have the K5 up and running, I've remembered how much I hate my carburetor... So, next project, fuel injection conversion. Wideband o2 arrived this morning, mesgasquirt 3 is on order... A whole new adventure awaits... I'll keep the post updated as I make progress.

What route or you going. MPFI, TBI?

TBI to start. A lot easier to set up, won't require me to swap intake manifolds right away. My engine is bone stock other than an RV cam, not a huge powerhouse, so I'm not concerned with huge power gains at the moment. I might go to MPFI down the road if I feel the need, but for now I really want to keep the truck driving and not out of commission again for a few weeks...
I was actually considering swapping to an L99 instead, but I just built this engine last year, may as well use it, and a swap would require way more down time than I'm willing to accept right now.

Cool I always wanted to try megasquirt. The potential is there for anything you really want which is cool.

My box of fun has arrived! Started soldering it up, but unfortunately have to go out of town for 4 days next week, so that'll put a damper on my progress... Hopefully by next weekend I'll have the FI electrical and electronics installed, and can proceed with the fuel components...
 
Sorry for the delay in updates... Got the Megasquirt all soldered together and installed in the truck. Still running on the quadrajet for the moment, just using the megasquirt as an expensive datalogger. But that gives me the chance to verify all my sensors are working properly before I get the EFI installed.
In other news, I took out or for an extended road trip to visit @sreidmx, about an hour and a half drive each way. Got to within a couple miles of his house, and blew my left rear tire. And of course I didn't have my spare with me... Stupid!
After much tire shopping on a Saturday, had to borrow someone's else's tires, took it for a flogging run, suspension performed perfectly. Did a couple pretty nasty hill climbs, ran like a champ.
That is, until our quick and nasty cross-bay shock tower brace flexed, and pinched my radiator hose, resulting in a leak... Limped it back to Steve's house, where he thankfully had and extra hose. Swapped it out, and drove home, without issue.
So now I'm working on the new cross brace, and trying to grind on my front driveshaft double cardan, trying to squeeze out the last couple of degrees I need of shaft travel...
Also picked up a new RPM Air-Gap manifold, and a Comp Cams X4262 cam kit, for after I get my EFI set up. Also shopping for headers, any suggestions for a good fit that doesn't interfere with the differential or front driveshaft?
 
It never fails, I always end up working all night on the days I don't want to... But, I did come home to find this in my garage!

Now hopefully I'll be off in time to get then mounted tonight, but given the weather, that's doubtfully going to happen...
