76 K5: Megasquirt EFI, Electric Fan, and ICON Coilovers

Another FYI, for anyone stumbling upon this forum... The sloppy shifter on an SM465 is a pretty simple fix. GM used a collar to join the shifter handle and the snout that engages the shift forks inside the transmission. On the shifter side, the collar is held on by 2 spot welds that are commonly known to break. On the other side, they used a nylon sleeve with a roll pin to help reduce NVH in the cab. Over the course of 50 some odd years, the nylon sleeve on mine had completely disappeared.
The shifter side is pretty simple, grind off the failed weld and weld them back together. For the snout end, you can try to find a nylon sleeve that will fit in there, but my plan is to just weld them together, since NVH isn't really a concern to me... I have what I'm pretty sure is the loudest exhaust known to mankind short of a top fuel dragster, none of my window or door seals seal, and it's never going to sound/feel like my BMW, so why try?
I'll link a couple videos in a little bit too illustrate the issue.

You'll like the harbor frieght jack, they work very well I've used one a lot

fixed it for you

Well, nothing major to report. Got the new clutch in with little effort, scraped/scrubbed about 10 pounds of gunk off the transmission and adapter, got some paint on, and that's about it. Now to clean up the trans cross member, transfer case, and hopefully find some new trans mounts, and get it back together in time for @sreidmx's birthday next weekend. In the meantime, put on hold, got called out for a car hit pole... So off to work I go. See ya in 24 hours.

Clean.....

He welds in sandals too.. I'm with Martin.. Boots are cool for lots of reasons.
@sreidmx Tattletale!

It's true, I have been known to on a few occasions... In my defense, I wasn't working on the truck when I took those pictures, I was walking through the garage to grab something whilst setting up a pool, and realized I hadn't gotten any pictures yet.

Got everything back together last night. Holy crap, what a difference... Clutch works so much better now. For future reference, the SM465 took a full gallon of gear oil, and the NP205 took about 2.75 qts.

Look what I found under a 2 inch thick layer of crap!

Also did some new transmission mounts while I was in there.

Tonight I'll fix my little coolant leak at the intake manifold, just need to replace the gasket at the neck. Also have a CB coming tomorrow, so gonna need to get that installed. Can't wait for our Big Bear trip with @sreidmx, @bergerking, and @Dil.Pickle this weekend!

Any opinions or thoughts on tie downs in the cargo area? Thinking about just bolting in some pickup tie downs into the floor to keep my spare tire and toolbox from becoming a weapon of mass destruction...

Also, any cool ideas for CB mounting locations?

Did u buy a cb with a built-in swr meter??
I had to mount mine on the side of my center console because the throw was so far on my transfer case I couldn't engage it without beating up the radio
