77 Blazer

new 290hp gm crates are about 1600 pan to valve covers. just put on your intake and carb and accessories and install it.

Too bad your not in CA. I've got a 350 that needs work but nothing you probably dont have from your blown engine (alternator, etc)

Bought blazer, blew motor same day. Need a new crate motor, a refurb ac delco installed is 2500, including 1k install. anyone have a well built crate mtoor that would be better than that for 1500?

Was it more than just the head gasket? Overheating it shouldn't have done any more than that.

Remanufactured crate is now in it, double roller, ac delco, with oversized cam and alum. intake, bored 30 over I believe. Found a possible 87 that is missing tranny, have what I remember to be a th350 with mated 205 or 400 with 205, would like to swap out this motor and use 87's efi in the efi body along with the th400 and 205, origfinally truck took 700r4. is rebuilding an auto tranny incredibly difficult? I'd like to do that lower first gear swap too.

Cylender heads weren't true anymore.

Bellhousing is cracked on the tranny, and leaking tranny fluid, power steeiring hose is leaking.

Thanks btw for the update on the axel. Nice new truck :)

The bellhousing won't cause it to leak. You sure it's tranny fluid (gear oil btw)? 465 bellhousings are cheap and easy to replace.

Not to insult you, but if you're paying someone else to swap your engine, I'd say to leave the tranny rebuild to professionals as well.

Sorry, I didnt know the back story.

No problem. I also can't change the motor in the dorms, but it isn't to terribly hard. The cracked bell housing wouldn't cause the leak, but the bell housing is cracked, and the leak is coming from where the tranny and motor meet, and there isn't any oil on the back of the motor.
