77 K5 Just had to do it

I know the stepper motors in the gauges are notorious for going bad. All of the gauges seem to be working correctly so I assume the P.O had them replaced. It has a red tinted lens so someone has at least had them out.
The engine was actually not up to full temp so maybe it will go down some once I run it long enough.

Mine carries 60psi normally. 80 is suspect for a gauge issue though. I will say this, if it was actually low on pressure you'd know it. The valvetrain would be making a ton of racket with low oil pressure.

One could try another sender, but they are kinda bitch to replace without taking the intake off and require an odd shaped deep socket special tool. It can be done if you have skinny hands and the right tool.

I started to disassemble the 05 parts truck this morning.

And then went and picked up a Jimmy for parts. Has a new set of springs front and rear and a lot of other goodies.

Are you sniffing these squares out on Craigslist or by some divine ability? I should tell you what I'm looking for. Good work!

Craigslist, auctions, word of mouth ....... you name it. I picked the Jimmy up for a great price so I could not pass it up.

Well if that Jimmy has a good washer bottle (the kind with the pump in it) I'd buy it from you.

Well I technically did not get the engine out, but it is not really in either.

And I got the cab stripped of almost all usable / good parts for resale.

When I was under the donor truck last night I noticed the oil pan was cracked / broken by the oil filter.:doah: So it looks like I am needing an oil pan if anyone has one for sale.

On the plus side it looks like the trans has been replaced with a GM unit.

So.... this build might be following @ZooMad75 s build even closer. I figured I should get the 350 running in the donor 88 Jimmy before I drop the hammer on it, I installed a throttle body, battery and new fuel pump. I hit the key and it started so quick it caught me off guard!
Transmission seemed to work so off I went on a test drive. So in summery drives good, body is WAY nicer then the 77, already has a lift, o/d trans, fuel injection.........hmmmmm. I await your opinions.

While I really like the 77 for it's genuine originality there is something to be said for not having to do rust repair. Throw in FI and OD and you are getting up and running much quicker than planned. You can work on the camper while keeping the 88 running so you can sort out issues on it.

Still, you would have to spend time swapping the drivetrain and fixing the body rot on the 77 on top of fixing the same issues I've had on the camper. I like the round eye front end as much as the next guy, but if you want to get rolling sooner I think the 88 is the way to go.

You can swap the top and gate back to the 77 and keep or flip from there. Recoup some $$$ and put it back into the 88/FWC.

I am hoping to close a deal on a 60 for the front tomorrow.
