77 K5 Just had to do it

Yep sawzall blades, 4" grinder with a cutoff wheel and an empty roll off dumpster are in my future. I will probably keep it complete and driveable for a while. Anybody want some free seats? Maybe some for the shop/garage?

Heck, maybe you should just toss a Dana 60 in the front of that thing along with your refreshed NP241 and have a hell of a camper on wheels!

I finished up your reset 241 today with the ORD SYE installed….

The rear pump on a 241 can be a real hassle to deal with when putting the case halves back together without pulling the sump tube out. Gorilla tape turns out to be just the hot ticket to hold it securely in place

Now you have me all geeked up to do a SYE on my Polar Bear Suburban, although while torqueing the output flange I did find one thing I don’t like about the flange itself. It is tapped for metric bolts and not just any metric bolt but a M10 x 1.25. As Rob can attest, I have a huge bolt bin with more GM spec metric bolts that most GM dealers have in stock and had to dig deep to find a pair 1.25 bolts where most are 1.50. The only ones I could find were old seat belt bolts from some aftermarket seatbelts. That said, you might want to grab 4 extra M10 x 1.25 to keep in your travel tool box as these won’t be easy to find if you lose some on the trail in the middle of nowhere and you're certainly not going to be able to cannibalize some bolts out of bumper brackets or something else on the truck. I’ve been that guy looking for oddball shit at the TrueValue in Kanab, UT before after things vibrated loose out in the boonies. Odd they didn’t tap the holes to a normal SAE size like the thousands of other bolts holding the rest of our trucks together

Really!! Your gonna give me those kind of ideas! Thanks now you have me thinking?!?
Wow, you know I must have done something REALLY good in a previous life to be as blessed as I am to have you building my diff and t-case. Your attention to details is amazing. I have never had anyone work on my stuff before and I have always done things myself. I will have some extra goodies for you when Zoomads delivery service comes next week.

Dammit, that thing is going require care to deliver. I better not screw it up..

I have dissected 2 motor homes in the past and they were both easier then this thing. It is still drive able so I had to go up and down the block once to see what it was like to drive a convertible bus.

The rolling chassis will be for sale sans engine, trans?? and probably fuel tank if anyone is building a COE or Snubnose. Delivery available.

Oh, MAN! I guess we won’t be seeing a full blown expo’d out 4x4 P-chassis shuttle bus based trail rig now

…. Unless it is a convertible
No, I have a few too many projects going right now as it is. But you did get me thinking about doing something like that in the future.

Had to go to C-list and start shopping for another chassis.

I got a bit done today, I parked the K5 on an angle and up on a block to send some oil to the pass side rear wheel bearings. I will top off the fluid and then do the same to the drivers side.

Then cleaned up the L29 and separated the 4l80.

That's one way to do it then flip it around for another hour or so... Did you receive the next package yet?

Yes I did, Zoo Santa dropped it off while I was up at the shop working on the L29. Looks even better in person. Thanks again Larry. I sent some small goodies back with Rob and will have some other misc trinkets for you later. Still have the front radiator support for you as well.

I found this tag so it appears my engine probably has a lot less miles on it then originally thought.
The church bought it in 06 and only put 14k miles on it in 12 years so that plus the in service miles from aprox late 03 to 2-15-06. I wonder if there is any way to get old maintenance records from RTD?

Hey @Larry Howells is having a black Friday sale so I am thinking about buying my wiring harness and ECM this weekend. I assume I want the harness without emission connections? Any other advice on ordering my ECM ? Will my stock ECM work? As far as I could tell there was no VATS on the bus. Thanks

Without emissions is the way I would order it. Nah, I would send them your ECM and they can use it for the $50 core. Your ECM is set up for emissions and auto trans. I don’t believe you are running either. For what little they charge for their programed ECM I’d get theirs.

Without emissions you can remove the ugly EGR valve and make a block off cover for it like the one below then find a big pipe plug to screw into where the pipe goes from the intake to the exhaust. The Valve next to the EGR looks like an EVAP purge solenoid. You could leave that one in place or make a block off for it too. My intake didn’t have the EVAP purge solenoid but it did have EGR blocked off. Of course, you’ll need to run a different manifold on the driver’s side or plug that hole too.

Mine was a marine L29 intake, was pretty much the same as a truck intake except for the lower intake was cast iron instead of aluminum and upper was powder coated.

Man, that is a Hoss of an alternator! Is it labled with its amp rating? The biggest OEM alternator on the L29's was a 140 amp cs. That one looks like a bigass Leece-Neville 200 amp. Regardless, try to find the serpentine belt number so you can buy an extra to carry with you. Unlikely the belt is the OEM size due to that aftermarket alternator.
