Fern submitted a new Build:

78 blazer

Bought my 78 a couple of months ago. Had no engine, been sitting for a couple of years. Thought it would make a nice project. Main goal was to have nice camping/hunting truck. Been working on it off and on because of a lower back problem I have or it would be farther along. So far Ive installed a used 350 engine my buddy had sitting around. Put on a edelbrock intake and carb. Lifted the truck with 6" springs in front and block and add a leaf in back. New brake lines ,all new brakes, new bilstein shocks. Added ord steering arm, sway bar bushings, disconnect, tie rod.

Thanks, its been a little more than i expected but I enjoy working on the truck. Ive done some mods on the interior aswell. Ive installed land rover front seats, found a rear bench seat . Made new rear panels and painted the dash pad and front door panels to make. Even redid my headliner myself.Bought new bezel and lense.

Yeah craigslist find , cost me $180 for the pair.

Cant tell from the first pic but both front fenders had alot of rot , and the hood was bent. Scored some blem fenders and hood for cheap on craigslist. Put some primer on them and installed. Sold the wheels and tires that came with the truck and bought some oem wheels and refinished them. Put on some 35" cepeks. I just plastidipped the truck last weekend, I think it came out good enough. Since I know it will get beat up once I take it out I didnt want to spend a ton of cash. Cost me $250 to do the whole truck . I also did the top with rustoleum bed liner and put new seals

Looks good with some color and wheels on it.

Where in CA are you?

Nice touch on the seats.... What did those come out of originally. I especially like the saddle colors on that rear bench!!!!

The seats came out of a land rover , not sure what year though.

man thats night an day, i dig it.

i want to convert the interior on my 78 to tan, with the goal of the exterior being a light mint green and black with a tan striping.

Light colors are the way to go if you want it easier to cool in the summer. I had my 05 Ram 1500 that was all black and after that a Cruze that had an all black interior and during the dead of summer they never cooled off entirely in an hour trip home from work. it sucked. Now in my Frontier with a grey interior, 5 minutes after the AC is on everything is nice and comfortable.

I bealive the color is sandstone. I went to upholstery store and picked up sone vinyl paint and vinyl for the rear panels that closely matched. Finished installing stereo system yesterday. Just needs a good vacuum and install seats.
