been lurking around here for sometime guess its my turn.
1978 Chevy k-10. under powered 350, turbo 400 that slips and a 203 that leaks. basic half ton running gear for now anyways and a bunch of body damage

here's the truck the day i got it.

i drove it like this for some time, playing in the mud and getting stuck. playing in the rocks, and getting stuck...playing in the snow, and getting stuck. i noticed a trend and picked up a winch. my little brother and i built the bumper to hold it.

shortly after I found myself getting deployed to Afghanistan. some of my deployment money went into the truck mainly new tires.

on the way home from work one night i passed something like a dozen jeeps with no doors. this got me thinking next thing i know my doors are gone.

my interior. its got a honda civic drivers seat and a ford something or other passenger seat. theres a b&m shifter. couple years ago the shifter box on the 203 took a **** so i used it as an excuse to twin stick it.

i should have mentioned this in the first post, this is a franken truck. the front end isnt origional, who knowqs if its the origional engine i didnt bother to ask or check. anyways its a guessing game sometimes as to why things dont work.

welcome aboard man, thanks for your service:bow:
and keep the mud flying, just don't let it hit you in the back of the head:whistle:(blazinzuk)

and it continues

heres some more pics from my travels. i had a buddy go 4 wheeling around the riverbank after a rain storm in spring...needless to say he was stuck pretty good.

well i have lost most of the pics that night due to dropping my camera in the mud but i do have some pictures from the resulting damage.

any guesses what cause this?

answer is the drive shaft swiftly leaving my truck heres what caused that to happen

here's the reason you wear proper clothing when you weld, that burned through all three shirts i was wearing

here's my big little brother, working on the front bumper of my truck. hes got an 84 k5 blazer and should be lurking on here someplace

current project

since i rarely run with full doors or doors at all for that matter i decided it was finally time to remove the ac that didn't work and the heater core that didn't work to well.

what it looked like before i started

P4210353.jpg

now this was pretty strait forward except for what appeared to be a diy fix. i couldn't reach the bolt or what i thought was a bolt...this led to my favorite way to fix things. my hammer, which consequently led to me not favorite thing and that bleeding.

heres what it looked like once the destruction and mayhem was finished
P4210356.jpg

i used some 22 gauge steel and pop rivets to Fill up the hole
P4220359.jpg

from here i just sprayed some bedliner on the bare metal inside and out. im also have a design to hold 2 50cal ammo cans under the hood. not sure what im gonna put in them but i hat to see the space go to waste

in place of the heater core i just ran a simple loop. i may go a little more fancy but until i know how well this works i cant say for sure

i mentioned before my brother heres a teaser pic of his blazer project. which should kick off shortly

photo-5.jpg

that's his blazer, my Chevy, and our furd farm truck beater. unfortunately the ford had a mishap recently where the rear axle decided it didn't want to play. but that's for another thread

got my steering shaft installed...butchered an xj shaft cause i have an older model column and i have somehow managed to turn my steering wheel 180ish

oh and i got to play with my brothers new cutting torch.

pix later when i'm not in class

that it did...im really good at the deconstruction.

its putting it all together that gives me a challange

this is a saddle tank from a long bed chevy. the tank is in good shape and the straps are usable ill most likely use this one at lease for now.

i forgot to snap a pic but a year or so ago i was wheelin and set down hard on a rock and bashed in current tank. at the time it was ok but now its starting to show signs of leaking

were supposed to get some snow tonight to the tune of 7inches. as for weather thats gunna happen or not i decided to give my mom the garage so she doesnt have to shovel that much

Hey we're supposed to get 7" of snow tonight too... where you at in PA? I grew up in Portville, NY (near Olean) but live out in Corning, NY now.

I live in Loyalville pa close to Wilkes-Barre. and we got all of the snow they called for.

not much to report, my spring break is over and spare time is at an all time low. my buddies and i have a fishing trip planned for the middle of april.

we go to a friends farm and have lots of room to fish alone, and on a minor side note there's lots to 4wheel in on and around. so new deadline to get the truck "running".

i have to get the fuel tank moved and re-plumbed, fix the rats nest of wiring, and track down the trans leak. to start. depending on weather the doors might come off and the tailgate needs to be reinstalled. so i have some work cut out for me.
