\'78 K5 - what came stock?

I just bought a '78 K5, and after reading some 4x4 mags and this forum, have come to realize I don't even know what I am driving. I know it has the 350 cid motor and an NP205 x-fer case. It's the four speed manual, so is that an SM435? What is that? What axles might I have? What is the difference between a "corporate" axel and say a Dana other than manufacturer? Thanks in advance, I'm tired of being ignorant.

For your manual transmission, it might beSM318/ SM326/ SM330/ sm435. You could have a corporate 12 bolt rear and a danna 44 front or 12bolt rear and 10 bolt front.

Yep, SM465 is your tranny. Obviously you know that it is a 4speed manual tranny. Corp. 12 is your rear axle. either corp. 10 or Dana 44 is your front axle. We had a debate about this earlier I think, about when was last year Blazers and Jimmys came with D44's. Despite that, they are very similar in strength. D44 might be just a hair stronger. But the D44 parts are more abundant for it and cheaper. Hopes this helps yah.
