Thoughts on this K5 with 50 original miles. Is it legit?

Curious why its dark orange on the bottom and inside the tailgate or is that how some came? Thought maybe it was re-sprayed a different color in its early life but the blue on the firewall looks factory. Hard to tell, but door strikers could be missing the plastic but maybe that desegrated due to age. Hard to say.

I'm sure it will go for stupid money.

I call BS. Who the hell can afford to buy a brand new vehicle and let it sit?!?? Where do they work?? Are they hiring??? I didn't look close at the pics, but the orange underneath looks suspicious, and if played right can flip the speedo and have it read 50.....either way I call BS. Motor would need to be rebuild just from sitting and not being turned over. Not to mention everything else.

Lots of people honestly. Or it got bought and the owner passed and the family didn’t do anything with it. Plenty of stories out there with these situations.

But I’m also calling some BS as well.

Sounds like the original owner got it for free as compensation for importing vehicles and just let it sit which seems odd to me. Carpet seems new, brake pedal pad could have been replaced. You would think they would try to clean it on drivers side. That humid air sure takes its toll on some parts and paint with pitting. Paint is far from perfect. Who ever decide to put those towing mirrors on, needs to be kicked in the nuts. Looks like previous dealer wanted close to 60k. It will be interesting what this one gets in the end.

Driven only 50 miles but they bothered to put towing mirrors.
Along with some other details already mentioned I call BS as well

Why would it have that blue/green dash pad when the rest of the plastic is the off-white? Has anybody seen an orange factory underbody before? Doesn't it look kind of like stone chipping behind all of the tires?

Maybe it has 50 miles of donuts in a dirt parking lot.... :D

I think the mystic white door panels and seats could have come with a different color of dash when I search on it like on these others. One of my 79 had mystic white door panels but I think the dash was a different color.

I saw the stone chipping as well, looks like more than 50 miles of driving. There is lots of touch up made to look old. Roof looks spray painted. I also thought it was weird that the detailer couldn't get the door panels looking perfect but they were able to get the upholstery flawless. BS, its been driven and had parts changed.

:haha: :haha: :haha:That’s a crock of shit. You can tell from any picture that thing aint 50 mile og. Whether it sat outside or not. Way to many defects and issues.

Looks like it could actually be 50 miles to me. Lots of things check out. Also, that "orange" on the underside is the color of the factory sealer in those years.

I'll bet it goes for a lot of money, but not nearly what it could, since so many people will be skeptical of the miles.

I think it could have gone for much more if they had left it "as found". the fact it has been focked with muddies it's provenance. Replaced the seat belts...with the wrong color. I don't think the roll bars were ever color matched either. I could see this being legit, time and less than ideal storage certainly can create a lot of the flaws. The orange underneath is interesting. I could not see any overspray of orange anywhere in those pics. I kinda feel that might be factory...

There is one pic where the speedo dial appears to be a different shade of orange than the other dials though.

Good point on the seat belts, they should be white. And the needle color. It is easy to swap those. My black 79 had similar color underneath and I always thought it was repainted a different color. I do remember the firewall being black but I assumed the PO painted it.

I do believe the roll bars were color matched. I remember Steve's K5 had a color matched rear bar on his and here's another one that shows that on a gun metal k5.

The rear spare tire is not original. roll bars where color matched from factory. I've never see red primer on underrside. It would not take much to get that k5 looking super nice. For a low millage k5 it should be in near mint original condition which it is not. Still a nice k5.

It looks like the new owner swapped out the original tires with new tires. In the barn find photo the tires look to be original factory.

All of them I've seen, the belts were the secondary color I think. That one you just posted even has red belts.

For K5 and Suburban, anyway. Pickups all got the off-white belts, I believe.

I think you're right on the seat belts. I thought with the info below that the belts are white and the seeing the trucks above have white belts, the Blazers got that too but it looks like they got the colored belts instead.
