'79 Chevette on K5 Blazer Frame?

Depends on how you build the engine.

BTW, the grand national was a 3.8 turbo.

So how much did his dad pay for the 'Vette? I've always liked those little things. :D

yeah thats funny haha, he paid $1,100 for it and it only has 40,000 miles on it and looks great, no rust. Runs like a brand new car in the city and on the 3 hour trip it took here!!!

I might post up some pics of it tomorrow...

Dang. Wish I could luck into a deal like that.

On a related note, I found a Sunbird to go with that 'Vette picture:

It can be yours for only $800. :D

It might actually have a Chevy drivetrain in it, judging by the 6-lug axles.

Mighty Scooter!..

We had an 80's Chevette "Scooter" running around my town in the early 90's,that a guy morphed a 283 V8 from a totaled '63 Impala into, and used the Impala's rear end (narrowed to fit of course,by a talented machinist friend of his) in the rear..also used the Impala's Powerglide tranny..guy put it together in his garage in about 3 weeks time, and it came out decent!..even managed to stuff the radiator from the Impala in it too..motor looked like it grew there, but not too terribly cramped ..he had to "modify" the firewall a bit!.

I rode in it a few times, and though it was only a 2bbl carbed 195 hp motor, the car would leap off the line with its front tires barely touching the ground when you punched it!..the Powerglide was what made it "driveable",it took up a lot of power..if it had a manual tranny I bet it would have just roasted the tires until they popped,or do doughnuts!..

All the guys with 5.0 litre Mustangs around here hated that car,it ate most of them for lunch!(all the cops hated it too!)....I don't know what happened to that Chevette,he must have sold it,he used to race it at New England Dragway.... maybe it got wrecked or something..anyway,it was FAST!..very scary to drive and ride in..more like a dragster than a car!..

So my buddy just found a '79 chevette automatic in prime condition with only 40,000 miles on it and he is probably going to buy it tomorrow... anyway we were looking online for things we could do to it and we came across a bunch of pictures of jacked up 4x4 chevettes!!! I have to admit it they look pretty fun. I saw someone who used a Bronco frame and someone who used a Luv frame.

So I was wondering if anyone had ever done a project like this and what it would take to make a Chevette body fit over a V8 and a K5 frame?

Here is a pic of someone's

I can only say one thing........454ci , sleeper!

wouldn't that be somethin, you would need to tone down the exhaust a bit so they couldnt hear what u have crammed under the hood.

Tone it down alot, so it almost chockes the engine. But have the Electric cut outs on it ,so when the challange is on......open headers!

As much as I like these little cars, you just can't look cool when you're stylin' a Chevette. :D

Found an ad on Classic Car Trader for a '76 Chevette and the guy is asking $4,950. :eek1:

I sent him an e-mail:
"$5000 for a Chevette? Are you serious? You sure you didn't look up the value for a CORvette??"

His response:
"We can set up a payment method if you cannot pay in full. Thanks."

:haha:

That's one dbadass vette. Your buddy got a good deal on that 79. My cousin had one when I was a kid. Great mileage but the thing had zero power. Coughed its way up hills. I'd love to see one stockish with a big block. The black 4x would be fun to drive too.
