i have a wiper switch, delay mod. and wire pigtail out of a 79 truck. how can i wire this to my 73? can this be done and whats the color codes for the wires? thanks....

I just did this on my '77. You need to use a '78 and later wiper motor, splice on the newer connector ends, and run one additional wire from the switch to the motor.

the opening is a little small for the delay switch. A little cutting will make it fit, and the screw holes are in different places.

my delay switch is basically same size as normal switch, the switch rotates to set the delay, the delay has a piggy tail w/another box that the harness plugs into, i haven't installed it yet but i was told it should be plug and play for my parts...the delay switch is out a 84, i'm putting it in an 80...i hope its plug & play...i know they moved the switch location, but looks like it should go right in where the 80 switch is..:dunno:yet

Where did they move it in 84? I have only seen them in the same location just below the light switch, unless they are column mounted, which is where mine is going eventually.

i was told 81+ has light switch and wiper in the same general area, but moved them about a inch or so, i have 80 & down parts trucks and 81+ parts truck and just eyeballing them, they don't look to be moved much, if at all, but i've been told by several people mutiple times that they are in different location and has something w/them not mounting correctly:dunno: i'll find out when i put my 84 delay in my 80...i was told the harness should plug right in tho, thats what i was worried about!

'84 is the column mounted switch, and the delay box is different.

As for the original poster, let me dig through my info and find the wire color changes.

hmmm..i'll have to check door sticker...thought that was an 84...maybe mistaken...i have a caddy tilt-telescope w/wiper&cruise-all on column..wish i had cruise and wasn't scared to try and put that column in my k5!
