Here are some pics of my 79 Chevy Blazer. Its a 350, 4 speed, 4x4, removable top. Pretty sweet combo... Very little body rust, just needs floor pans. Anyway its been primered for a while and it just hit me last week that I wanted to paint it desert tan, similar to the army vehicles. So today I grabbed a few cans of spray paint to see what it would look like, heres the result. (keep in mind its temporary lol) Im planning to add a roll cage, lift kit, and possibly some hard plastic racing type seats with harnesses, also the inside will be coating in that spray on bedliner.
Im still in the planning stage, so any input or other ideas would be great.

didnt really think about it when i posted that, was just sayin it makes for a cool combo, but yeah you are right i know

No, they had them until 92, which is when they didn't have them anymore.:D

Up to and including '91 and no later...which in no way involves the '92 model year or the new body style or IFS or any of that other crap GM replaced the K5 with.:p:

right, i didnt say "all blazers through 92 had them". no, what i said was "all blazers till 92 had them". meaning until the 92 model year or right up to the 92 year. duh:D

Back on track...

To the OP, looking good so far, but I'd give it another coat. I think that tan is a little thin, and it seems slightly inconsistant in a few places. I think it would benefit a LOT from a second coat.

ideas for your project

Tan looks good. I'd weld the rearend (maybe the front too) and lift it a bit. Kevin

Are those white face guages stock? I have a 77 and thought they were all black through those years.

Also if you want to ditch that big steering wheel, one from a pre-airbake year cavalier is a direct bolt in, the horn will even work.

First off nice ride. I have a 79 also. I was surprised with the paint job not bad for a spray can in the yard job.

Nope the white face guages are just overlays. I was just tired of not being able to see them at night so I went that route. They arent show quality but not bad for the price and it does the job.

I was wondering about the steering wheel too, I do want a smaller one. Had an older S-10 wheel in mind, would it work too?

Funny thing is, they only had 8 cans of that color in stock so I was really putting it on thin to make sure I got the whole thing covered. I didnt take time to mask much of ANYTHING. Maybe used 5 ft of tape total. And it was windy so it was hard to even paint anything. Overall I was really impressed too though. Its not permanent was just a test but im glad I did it, im definately going with this color.

Another thing I recently did was put in the new dash pad. I got it on ebay one day for $99. Not sure what ones worth but it seemed like a heck of a deal to me!

The old one was real rough.
