Going to look at this in few hours, I am pretty aware of the body, but very little experience with 8.1.

any thing special to look out for ?

2 whl 8.1 burbs are rare.

Pretty much all 8.1s use either oil or anti freeze from the 8.1 thread. Not a lot but enough to check every week if driving often.

So...is this a new daily/tow rig for the buggies or swap material for a certain roundeye Suburban?

Regular tow rig, unless all the creature comforts go shit, then it's a donor. 7k for 8.1l, 4l80?e, computer wiring etc. I was in the 7k neighborhood just purchase a big block make it right and get it installed.
50ish mile drive home. Is pretty smooth, quite, very slight probably tire shake 45-55, very smooth over 70. Hauls ass. might have a slight pull to left will investigate after new tires. These are worn and have sun checks and splits.
Is a very loaded burb, Front bucket with console, both 6 way power, with adjustable lumbar, heated. Sliding Moon roof, 8 passenger. Power mirrors garage door opener. I haven't explored all the options yet.

I think K20 will get some new heads, bring compression down. K20 drives well on it's own, only when I ask it to tow a heavy load (boat) or steep grade I get frustrated.

The 8.1 burb is a good find at that price.

Like Ron said, keep an eye on the oil level. Between the poorly designed pcm system and the fact it’s a giant big block it will be thirsty for oil. The GM standard was 1 qt for every 100 gallons of fuel run through it is normal.

Mine is good for a quart in 2000-2500 miles. Some use more, some use less.

Definitely get some Taylor 10.4mm wires for it when you do plugs. It totally helps with the low speed lugging.

It really doesn’t need a major tune, but getting the torque management turned off and burst knock retard turned off will allow the 8.1 to have all the power it can make without the Nannie’s holding it back.

Looks nice to me. What size tire is that? PYO wheels are so skinny (6.5) some people report that going over 265 width can get squirrelly for towing.

Be sure to check out the steering components, as the parts do wear. They can also wear the ball joints, but not nearly like the 1500s. Then worry about alignment. The little jounce bumpers on the lower suspension arms tend to disappear entirely.

I have 37's for sale. I'll give a great deal. They'll just rot away on the side on my house
37x12.5x17

Yeah, it's fairly painless to register vehicles out here. Especially with the third party MVD locations.

So Pros and cons ?
Stock 245 75r16 Or the 1.2" larger dia 265 75r16.

Con $260 more for set of same same, in 265 75 r16.

Tow rig and boat launcher, no off road.

My son and I both put the 265s on our trucks so that there was a little more gear. I have 4:10 with a gasser, he has 3:73 with a Duramax. We both also like the visual difference compared to the stock size.
