Just found a guy who is willing to give me a 14bolt rear and an 8-lug 10 bolt front. Does this thing even exsist? Or is it a D44?

They exist. They are available from '77 all the way up to '91. Both 1/2 and 3/4 ton, too. And that means 6 and 8 lugs. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Free is good! And yes, as Wes said, there is an 8-lug, 10-bolt front axle. I've got one laying in the garage right now. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

The next question is.......Is it worth the swap? And will the detroit locker in my 10b rear fit in it?
Thanks

Yep and depending on the spline count.

hell yeah its worth the swap...thats what im running now in my 88...only cuz i cant afford a 60 yet...yet!!!

I've had WAY more trouble with rearends than frontends. So getting that 14-bolt FF in the back is worth the swap for me. I'm getting ready to put that exact combo under my '90 Suburban. I don't plan to beat it off road, so the front 10-bolt should hold up just fine. But on the road, the 454 that's going under the hood will be torturing that rearend. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

yea my dads 79 3/4 ton has the 10 bolt 8 lug front and a 14bff in the rear.. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
