i just got a 14 bolt rear end 8 lug. what should i get to make the front axle a 8 lug so i can have matching rims front and rear? it is a d 44 on the front

Get 10b or D44 8-lug outers. Need hubs, rotors, backing plates. Everything else should bolt right up, including the original calipers if I remember right. I don't remember if I swapped my calipers or not when I swapped over. Might shell out for a set of warn premiums while you're at it because the autolockers suck if you're still running them.

Jessie,

I was just at pull n save in Aurora yesterday, and they have plenty of 8 lug outers to pull, and a couple of sets of Warn premiums also.

icehouse, not to hijack but im just north of denver, and i hear about the pull n save all the time down there, how are the prices compared to most junk yards? i have been wanting to make a trip down on my day off to look for parts but i didnt know if it was worth it.

When I changed over to an 8-lug 10 bolt front, and 14 bolt FF rear, I also changed the brake booster and master cylinder.

I don't know if it's required, but from talking with the parts manager at the Chevy dealer they are both different from the factory. I assume that the stock Blazer ones are a bit lighter duty. I already had the parts so it only cost my time.

First make sure the gears in the new 14bolt match your front axle.
If they dont match and you still need an 8 lug conversion, I would start looking for a complete front axle to match. They are cheap.

Ditto ;)

Uh, I'm missing something.

A 4.10:1 and a 4.11:1 are the same. The pinion gear has 10 teeth and the ring gear has 41 teeth. Mathematically that is 41:10, or dividing by ten, 4.10:1.

You can't have fractional teeth (breaking teeth doesn't count!)

Some of pull n save prices are good, and some not. What parts are you looking for? They used to have a price list on their web page, but they removed it. I picked up a 4l85e with torque converter a few weeks back for $110. I think complete axles are about $120. Best thing to do is check there web page for the weekend specials.

i was needing 3/4 axle swaps, i didnt know they had a website i will have to check that out.

The 8 lug hub/rotor assy can be had from NAPA for around $90 per side. Then all that is needed is the backing plates. Also, get the bearings and swap them out at the same time. Easiest swap I have ever done on my blazer.

That's not true, the D44 does have 4.11 gears. Its doesn't have 41 ring gear teeth and 10 pinion teeth, it probably has 37 ring gear teeth and 9 pinion teeth.

Ford 9"s and Toyotas have 4.11 gears too.

4.10 and 4.11 are perfectly compatible together.

I can't count the number of 8 lug swaps I've done, axle to axle, 44 to 10, it is a super easy swap, we're talking about the hubs and rotors. Just treat it like a front bearing rebuild.

Get a hub socket, it will make life easier and some snap ring pliers and you will NOT have a problem, we're talking an easy 1, MAYBE 2 beer swap, unless you are John, then it's a case and 3 days...

Hi John, you suck :-D
