I'm looking at getting a 14 bolt rear with 8 lug pattern, but I'm debating what to do with my near new 35x12.50x15's. I don't really want to get new tires and wheels. I searched online and saw some mention of an 8 lug to 6 lug conversion/spacer that was actually sold here by a "TonyP", but I couldn't find where to get it and looks like he's no longer around. anyone know of an 8 lug to 6 lug conversion? the search engine comes up with a lot of questions about this topic but I couldn't find any links as to where I could buy something.

I will tell you as I was told. You don't want any wheel spacer/converter! I think it is because it can put extra strain on the hub and is also not as strong. I would say go for new wheels. I'm not sure about 15" rims though, you may have to go 16" for the brakes.

Since I have nice set of 15" MT Aluminum wheels and I plan on hopefully installing my 14 bolt in the next several months I am going to buy some decent steelies for the time being and run my fairly new rubber til they wear more.

Well, I know this has been covered before but I can't search for you guys :(

But IIRC, even if you used an 8 lug to 6 lug adapter, the 6 lug wheels don't fit over the 14 bolt hubs, you'll have to machine or grind them to fit. And even then, it seems like the material will end up pretty thin because the 6 lug pattern is smaller than the 8 lug pattern.

From what I remember in other posts, nobody thought that attempting a 6 lug FF 14 bolt was a good idea.

And hence, why I suggested the 6 lug SF 14 bolt. Pretty unlikely that you'll break the SF 14 bolt with 35's.

I spoke with the owner of Geartech about using the 6-lug hubs on my 14 bolt and they won't work becasue of the hub diameter as 383 said earlier. That's the route I wanted to go but wouldn't work. If I were to machine my MT Classics to fit the hubs there would have been only about an 1/8" of meat left between the wheel stud hole on the rim and the hub face.

The easiest solution is to simply buy a set of 15" 8-lug rims if you really want to re-use your existing tires (and yes, they work fine an a 14FF as they has been discussed about 20,000 times). The only issue is that 15" 8-lug rims have a fairly small selection and they are all steel.

I've been doing a lot of reading - lots of different answers out there too. so here's my plan - swap my 12 bolt for a 14 bolt FF rear, convert my 10 bolt front to 8 lug, and get some 8 on 6.5, 15x10 (or 8) w/ 4.25" BS steelies so I can keep my 35's. sounds like I'll need to do some grinding on the front calipers but the rears will fit.

Sounds like you've got it figured out! The grinding of calipers isn't as bad as some may make it sound. Make sure you take off as little as you can get away with though!

1 Million dollars!

I was in your situation man. With 35's your probably better off with the semi floater. The dif to ground clearance with 35's and a full floater isnt the best to say the least. The semi floater is a stout axle and will serve you well supporting up to 37's.

Its better to get the 8 lug thing out of the way now. I wish I had! I've got a 10.5 FF center section with a non cclip custom shafts and tubes... Its stout and a nice unit but I couldnt imagine what I would do if I blew a rear shaft.

I heard from a birdie that somewhere out there there's a place that makes 6 lug hubs for the full floater. No adapters or spacers legitimate new hubs. Think they are out of business though.

I've found a few 15" 8 lug steel wheels online - summit racing, america's tire, and a few others - but they are only rated at 1500 lbs each - is that gonna be enough?

See post #9. They won't work. Unless it is something from other than GeartechHD then it's a no go. Stomis, if it is something then try to post up the name or whatever because I'd be interested. Seems like you'd haveto get new/custom shafts because the shaft flange is the same diameter as the stock 14bff.
