Hello all - I want to run a 315/75-16 (35x12.50 basically) and I need help on wheel width and backspacing.

I currently have 8 inch rims which are the minimum recommended for that width of tire. I'd like to run 10's but would like to know anyone's experience with 10 inch rims and which backspacing they run? Thanks.

I have a set of Eagle Alloys 16X10, with a set of 315/75/16 tire on my truck (equivalent to 35/12.50/16 tire). I think my 16X10 wheels are a wee-bit too wide for 75 series tires, but they still work with no problems. My truck is also lifted up about 10". My rim width is why I am going to go with a set of 36/13.50/16 Super Swampers for my next tires because they are a bit wider than the 75 series tire.

I think that 8" wide wheels are actually a better fit to a 12.5" wide tire, though looks wise I do like the little wider wheel for the deeper "dish" on these trucks. Regarding backspace don't be over-thinking this. The standard backspace offered by most brands is fine on these trucks and most brands are pretty close to each other, at least close enough where it doesn't make any real difference. Just for fun I pulled up all 16x10 8-lug wheels available at Summit Racing. Out of around 60 choices all but 2 have a backspacing within 3/4" of each other which is a pretty small difference.

315 BFGs with 15x10s on the old Burb couldn't tell you the back spacing

Bitchin Burb. How tall a lift on that thing? 4"?

The backspacing on those look at least like a 4.25 or maybe a 4.5

And to the OP, it depends on what kinda look you like. If you like more the classic "skinny" tire look that most old chevy's had, go with 8". If you like a little fatter tire look like what the burb in the pic above looks like, then go 10"

Edit: Found the build thread, yes 4" lift, haha

Just following up. I went with an 8 inch rim for my 315/75r16 BFGs. I think I wen't the right direction. Picture for reference to tread width.

I have read some factory tire specs, which do recommend that 35/12.50 or 315/75 tires be run on 8" wide rims.

Discount Tire said that my BFGs required a minimum of 7.5" width and a max of 10".

I have my old 33x12.50r16 all terrains on 8" rims and I have to run the pressure down to 27psi just to get the entire tread cap to meet the pavement. I didn't want to be stuck stretching the sidewalls too far in where it affected the amount of tread meeting the pavement. I think 8" works well with 315s however as they are narrower than 12.50s.
