Hey guys, I am waiting on all the parts for my Burb build to come in and it's killin me haha. I picked some 15x10 steel wheels last week for the 39/14.5-15 pitbull maddogs. But since I've been waitin for parts i've been throwing different ideas around. one of which is runnin 15x8 wheels for po'boy beadlock. anyone have pics of 36+" 13-15 wide tires on 8 wide rims?

I wouldn't put the 15" wide tires on an 8", but I would do the 13 maybe 14.
I did 12.5 on 7" wide rims and it was just about the limit.
Hmmm, I guess 14.5" might not be too bad with 8" wide rims in that case, I say go for it.
I didn't pop a bead or even stand to pop one it was so tight.
You have to run flat and take a corner real hard and hit a bump sideways to even risk a bead popping.

I now run 10" wide beadlocks and like them better, the 8's worked ok though. I never lost a bead with them but I never aired down lower than 10 psi either.

38377k5....in your 1st pic, did you continue to drive forward across that huge rock, or did you just climb up there for the pic and then back down off the rock, it looks like if you went up and over it would of ripped the rocker to pieces, or high centered you on the frame on that side or wedged you tightly between the rock and tree...sorry...hijack off!

Perfect!! Thanks man. I need to find some 8"wide 15's now haha. I like the look better, not to mention the benefit of being able to air way down on the trail.

Keep the pics comin though of big tires on skinny wheels:D

Yeah, I drove over that. I don't remember if I hit the rocker tube (that picture is a couple years old) but I probably did. There is no rocker there to speak of, its a piece of tube that ties the A and B pillars together at the bottom. The tube is also higher up than a stock rocker would be, sort of a boatside if you will.

Here's what the rocker tubing looks like:

And here's that obstacle from the other side, its the only other picture I have of that one.

The entire underbody of the truck has pinstriping from rocks, if you make everything under the truck smooth (and strong enough) then its no big deal to drag the truck over the rocks.

Have you considered getting 15x8 wheels and spending $175 on DIY beadlocks? That will make them ~9" wide and you'll have cheap beadlocks.

The traction you get by running 4 psi instead of 10-15 is HUGE and well worth the cost of beadlocks.

That's my plan^^:wink1:

15x8 w/ 2.75" BS on 39.5x15.50 TSL's. There are also a set of 42x15.50 and 35x15.50 TSL's in our club running on 15x8 wheels.

The reverse backspacing probably helps (mine and the 42" tire truck are reverse BS) as neither one has ever popped a bead running single digits air pressure
