What would you do to this stock truck? (350, auto trans, 4wd)

It has to be driven, not trailered.
It should handle the highway as well as mud or rocks.
It should handle mud and rocks better than any factory stock 4x4.
The build should be as DIY as possible, both for cheap, and for the fun of the build.
It should be just distinctive enough to stand out on the road AND trail.

1. keep the doors and windows in/on the thing, keep it registered and keep it street legal.

2. 4 inch lift with 35 inch mud terrains.

3. see above.

4. use springs in the front. some sort of flip in the back and then buy all the parts you need to make custom brake lines, driveshafts, and crossover steering.

5. You really want it to stand out while being cheep? Paint it pink, no one else has one. Or realize that there are millions of these things on the road and if you want bling go buy a hummer and stay off the trails.

2-4" lift and 35-37" tires will leave it streetable. Your going to need lockers for mud and rocks. My truck is running 2" lift and 37" tires.

If you want it to stand out, your gonna need to come up with some of your own idea's ;)

It'll be registered after it runs again.

I was thinking 4-6 inch lift, 35-37" tires. Will 6" and 37" hurt highway manners?

No, no, not bling.
Street wise a set of nice quiet but throaty mufflers, little lift, bigger tires, and carefully trimmed wheel arches so that it looks factory would be enough.
Trail wise... something one step off the beaten path... rear steer, portal axles, that kinda thing.

I'd give it the 3/4 ton axel treatment with a 4" spring lift front with a zero rate, and 2" rear springs with a 2.5" shackle flip. Also the ORD 1" body lift to squeaze some 35-37" tires without rubbing so fender cutting isn't needed. Also lockers front and rear. If you can't afford both then at least one in the back. Don't forget the bolt on steering brace.

The rears are fine, just take a leaf or two out. As far as the front hes pretty much right, they are flat negative arched crap. Just 4 link the front, no problem ;)

You can run flexy (longer) leaves in the front with low lift, you'll just need to limit uptravel. But with more suspension travel brings better steering (crossover, full hydro, etc.).

4 inch rough country ez ride springs.... early model Ford F250 front shock towers...... 35 inch tires....... don't do a locker with stock 10 bolt axles..... get your suspension right and you probably won't need lockers for a good weekend gravel road trail ride..... just remember it is hard to have a good on and off road performer for a reasonable amount of money unless you are a real DIY kinda guy... good luck and post pics :D
