Trans only has 2k on it and was rebuilt in January. Engine is supposed to be a rebuild. I'm thinking it has 243K on the body.. and it really shows in the interior(some asshat cut holes in the rear passenger door panels for speakers :eek1:). The paint is excellent though.. with a wash it'll be nicer than the my low mileage '91.

I also went through the front to try to find out what was up with the wandering on the road. I'm pretty darn sure it's the drivers side ball joint(I can jiggle the tire around easily just by grabbing the hub and pulling up and down :eek1:). It also clanks when hitting bumps. Gear box, tie rod ends, and drag link all checked out..

So I figure I'll do ball joints on both sides, and while I'm at it I'll do a brake job since these pads are about 50% and the rotors need turned(looks like the last time someone did brakes, they just tossed pads on it).

Whats a good place to get timken bearings?

Nice score. Timken or bca bearings are easily had at the local parts house. I wish my burbs had paint.

nice looking rig. why the purchase tho? got the blazer, the burb, the ranger... what are your plans for this guy?

The ranger got sold a while ago for $400 with the dead trans in it..

Since the Ranger was dead, we did need another 4 wheel drive for the winter.. the K5 just isn't put together enough to be driven in conditions(at least comfortably. I'm more or less just saving it till I can afford to build it how I want to the first time anyway...

I'm half tempted to throw my shackle flip kit on this one and some front 2" lift springs for grins..

I just did ball joints on mine, which looks a lot like yours. Got genuine spicer from the dealer for $46.00 a side. I told him I wanted to stay with genuine GM parts and was going to be buying a lot more parts from him if he gives me a good price. So he did cause they list for around 90 bucks. They were cheaper than the moogs from the parts store. Give it a shot.
