  1. So....here is my dilemma. I am shooting to have my 83 with a 350 running so i can make it my DD hopefully soon. But the shop owner that is gonna help me finish it has a blazer of his own. It's a mid 80's 6.2 diesel, with a BAL? turbo. At least thats what the logos say but i cant find it anywhere on the net. The K5 is completely stock besides that and will be running but looks like it loses oil/ coolant commonly. The outside / inside look surprisingly well, way better then mine which i had to gut. and it has new tires. I was thinking of buying it and just getting it running well and also have it as a DD. Would it be worth it for $1k? :dunno:

Is his nicer? Can you fix it?

Losing oil AND coolant seems like a bug deal to me. Pics if both and the endgame are needed.

If the endgame is daily driver depending on fuel prices it can be a wash or lean heavily towards the diesel

I agree with Eric. Could go either way, but a turbocharged 6.2 in decent shape should make a good driver. I don't think the price is excessive. Unless those fluid leaks mean that something's wrong inside the engine.

New tires (depending on how new they are) would also tilt the scales in favor of the diesel.

What is your end goal for this rig?

Oh, and this thread will get a lot more attention if you ask the mods to move it to the garage section. This forum is typically pretty quiet.

My main intention is to save it from the scrapper, maybe drive it for a bit, maybe try to sell it myself. I done really have room for a 4th vehicle but I do like my squarebodies too.

It will probably be a great DD if you like squarebodies. Fuel mileage should be exceptional if you're used to gas rigs. You could probably buy it, sell the turbo setup (to me, of course :pimp:), reinstall the stock intake, and sell it off for a decent profit. A good working turbo kit is probably worth more off the truck than on, if you are selling it.

Or you could just drive it. Sounds like it's in nicer condition than your own rig. Why not build the diesel rig instead?

My Gas 83 K5 will be driveable in a week or so and I've put alot of work into it. If i got the diesel one i would leave it at stock height and not really alter it at all. I can't afford to build another one right now, as I am house shopping. 1 bathroom with a wife and 3 daughters is just not cutting it for me. It is in great condition. My current K5 is good now but just stripped inside and herculined, Has new '06 seats and everything has been gone through. I have no problem getting it and selling to someone else in the K5 community that needs one.

Which one you talking of selling ...I didn't realize how old this thread is .
